SPOILERS BEWARE The third season of Takagisan was highly anticipated especially after the conclusion to the previous season and damn did it deliver. This anime has become such an innocent youthful romcom which I cant help but admire and cherish since its so pure at its core. This series only gets better with each season as the story slowly but surely progresses to the point we even got an indirect confession from Nishi by the final episode. The ending of each season seems to always be the most memorable and its no different here. The final episode of the season was incredibly satisfying and delivered what most fans of this season wanted to see. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960557521905541160/unknown.png The first episode was a nice introduction to the season as it flashbacked many events that had happened over the past two seasons however it was portrayed as part of a dream rather than reality. Firstly we had Nishi dreaming about Takagi and then vice versa which tells you have much they truly care about each other even if they say otherwise. They subconsciously care so much about each other that they are now appearing in each others dreams. Another example of this subconscious would be when Nishi returned to school since he was worried about Takagi not having an umbrella. Upfront he may only think about winning a duel but deep down his heart speaks otherwise so its only a matter of time when Nishi will realise what his subconscious is truly telling him. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960556920920477796/unknown.png The fishing contest when Nishi was about to fall into the water only to be caught and embraced involuntarily by Takagi is a nice reference to when Nishi saved Takagi from the same fate back in the first episode of S2. In both incidents the characters acted instinctively without thinking too much which lead to some embarrassed faces once they realise what they had really done. Another scene which fills a similar criteria is when Nishi plays the prince in the final moments of the play and catches Takagi who accidentally trips then there are some improvised lines but this scene was heartwarming. Takagis final lines during the play were also improvised since she was outright stating her true feelings even replacing fall with spring as thats when she met Nishi. Its literally a confession but it will be overlooked as it was during the play so it will be assumed that it was part of the character. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960555658321739906/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960556132500373504/unknown.png The eighth episode showcases multiple couples and a group of friends as they take on the challenge of the 415 steps of love. These steps carry a legend that is meant to bring couples together so its no surprise we see the only three potential couples of the show plus the trio of Mina Sanae and Yukari take on the challenge. Nishi and Hamaguchi seem to be oblivious to this rumour but their female partners certainly arent. I really like Hojo and Hamaguchi as a couple as they have a bizarre awkward chemistry but I see it working as opposites attract. Too bad the latter failed to have courage to confess his feelings on White Day since I would like to see more of this couple. Nakai and Mano are the only real couple of the show but I was never really that fond of either as I much rather prefer the other two couples. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960554917280481371/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960554673843101726/unknown.png The xmas date episode was such a lovely episode such pure genuine interactions especially right at the end when they exchanged gifts to one another. This episode even has an insert song for the final moments of its duration and the song is really fitting since it carries Christmassy vibes. Nishi picking gloves as his gift after watching Takagi for long enough to notice shes always warming up her hands shows his heart is where it belongs. Deep down subconsciously this is the person he cares for most and wants to protect. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960547024531492925/unknown.png The final episode is what all fans of this series wanted to see and what we got was more than satisfying. Takagi was unable to make it to school on White Day since her ferry was delayed so she makes it coming later in the afternoon however Nishi desperately wants to see her on this day to return the gift which she gave him on Valentines. His inner senses start ringing alarm bells as not seeing Takagi on this special day felt wrong felt incorrect. So after having some thoughts and realisations that Takagi has indeed been hinting and at times straight up stating her honest feelings in one or another as recently as at the library straight up saying I love you he decides that their feelings may indeed be mutual and not part of any teasing gag. Nishi therefore sets out to meet the person he cares most for on this special day and indirectly confesses to her through his actions and feelings rather than words but it manages to get the message across. This was a wholehearted great ending to the season as even though I didnt get a confession through words I got one through actions and thats more than enough to satisfy me with this climax of the season. This episode also drops two fantastic songs the insert and final ED song of the season are both stunning as I can feel such emotion coming from Takagis seiyu in the ED song. Its a similar emotion conveyed from the insert song showcasing Nishis heroic sprint to see the girl he loves. Its nice to be young and god damn bless this adorable couple as they are so sweet together. https://www..com/watch?v=hWHqzQBKbm8abchannel=Rioanime 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960501404026417152/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/960500763480711178/unknown.png https://www..com/watch?v=3GYFsNMYXPcabchannel=Rioanime Once more Takagisan uses an incredible amount of EDs as Rie has outperformed herself once more by dropping so many good songs again. I already mentioned the final ED which is my favorite song from this season but another that was really awesome was Joyful as this song sounds so wild and different from the bunch yet its appealing. Another two which were great are Yume de Aetera and Over Drive but you can pick any song from this season and series generally and it wont disappoint. It still stuns me that this series has over 20 ED songs spanning across three short seasons and its all done by the same singer too. Seriously thats insane https://www..com/watch?v=mGpckFBekHIabchannel=Rioanime https://www..com/watch?v=spt0JnxQWXEabchannel=VanesaRMZ1 https://www..com/watch?v=udXPAhWqi08abchannel=TOHOanimationE38381E383A3E383B3E3838DE383AB For my closing notes I will say I am extremely satisfied with how the characters have developed throughout this series. This season was very heavily focused on Nishi and Takagi but its well deserved since they are the main couple. Like Ive stated a few times I do like Hojo and Hamaguchi as a couple so I hope the man gets some balls to drop the L word soon. Once more the final few episodes always seem to be the best part of the season. We had Nishis first critical hit in S1 another at the festival in S2 and now an indirect confession to top it off. Our boy has matured and is gaining more and more courage. The question that lies now is whats next for this series? Oh I cannot wait with anticipation as this anime is so beautifully wholesome and pure at its core.
