That might seem like a harmless premise but this show is playing through the girls collective imagination and in their imagination theyre shooting REAL bullets and spewing REAL blood. SO MUCH BLOOD. Curiously this show is aimed at a young female demographic though I doubt many anime watching guys will feel embarrassed watching the silly gunslinging action. Theres no story arc to keep track of here. Most of the episodes are divided up into three segments that are typically not related to each other. Yet the pacing doesnt feel too fast or sporadic. All the activity here is centered around the Survival Game Club. Its a school club that specializes in last man standing shootouts that can happen in places such as snowy mountains or on moving vehicles The show isnt all guns either. There are plenty of extra scenes like when a handful of the characters get stuck in their schools haunted pool room and they have to figure out how not to freeze to death. Momoka makes for a fun main character. Despite accidentally tripping her way into the club she goes to extreme lengths to try and survive including tricking her friends and using them as shields or bait. Not to forget how she will mercilessly shoot anyone she feels the need to and with untouchable aim Miou is the coolheaded leader of the Survival club who is admired by the many girls of her school including Momoka. Urara another club member is a masochist who grows fond of the main characters violence and dismissive attitude towards her. Maya is a model who seems to be the most normal of the group but happens to get in situations like being hunted by her perverted fans. Lastly theres Kayo the otaku who specializes in cosplay. Or in other words she can make costumes for other characters. And of course I cant forget the platypus who follows them around. I admire the shows comedy style because its always trying to do something different. There are a handful of repeating gags such as the narrator stepping in and informing us that none of the bloody violence is actually happening this gag thankfully goes away by the end of the show. For the most part though the show is trying out many different things which is why there are so many odd screenshots of this show floating around. For example a granny manning a machine gun or a man handing off machine pistols to a crab. It might be dumb and random but I find a lot of it funny And to the shows credit theres a handful of clever or smart moments in the show. Theres even a small segment in one of the episodes where they show you the basics of how to acquire a hunting license. This is one of my favorite anime Ive seen in this absurdist style so far.
