Sojiro Kusaka was an old friend and rival of Toshiro Hitsugaya when they were younger in the Shinigami academy. Sojiro believes that hes the rightful master of Hyorinmaru however hes soundly defeated by a weakened Hitsugaya numerous times throughout The Diamond Dust Rebellion.
