Slight spoilers ahead. Im not good at writing reviews plus this is my first one on Anilist so pls dont kill me.. This review is for both Tokyo Ghoul Re and Re season 2 and maybe the entire anime as a whole. Maybe some slight spoilers for the manga. Unlike Tokyo Ghoul A which for some reason Studio Pierrot decided not to follow the manga at all and made it some alternate universe crap Tokyo Ghoul Re does follow the manga which almost made me believe that Studio Pierrot had learned from their mistakes but boy was I wrong. The problem starts with Tokyo Ghoul Re being a sequel to Tokyo Ghoul not Tokyo Ghoul season 1 or A but a sequel to the manga which is completely different from A which means that Tokyo Ghoul Re anime completely ignores the events of Tokyo Ghoul A. This just made it all the more confusing for animeonly viewers who just came off of watching those first two seasons. Another mistake that Tokyo Ghoul Re anime made was how the plot presented itself to the viewer. Instead of getting a recap episode of some sort explaining to the viewer what happened between the events of Tokyo Ghoul Re and Tokyo Ghoul A the show decided to jump straight to the action while introducing its new characters in a really messy way. Story 3/10. If you want to experience the story of Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul re just read the manga for both of those stories. Ost 4/10. Barely memorable. The ost in the 1st season was iconic but as the series progressed it just became less and less memorable. Character 3/10. I didnt care about any of these characters. Enjoyment 3/10. If the characters and the story are both forgettable then I cant bring myself to enjoy it. Art 3/10. Tokyo Ghoul Re Season 2 is one of the ugliestlooking mainstream anime Ive ever seen. The worst part is that every character in Re looks overly shiny like they just came out of plastic surgery or some garbage.
