SPOILERS BEWARE Air is an older anime produced by Kyoto I picked this show up based on the facts it was meant to be similar to Clannad and well its adapted by the same studio as well as also adapted from a VN sadly if I compare Air to Clannad then it falls short in many places. Not only is it a measly twelfth episodes which is not a bad thing if the story is told well unfortunately Air is an anime that would have benefited from more episodes to tell its story and let the viewer get the full experience. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/948925970520367114/unknown.png My main problems with this show being the fact that it just felt rushed similarly like in Clannad the MC meets various girls and helps them solve their problems in no way does the adaptation do these arcs justice. Kanos arc was relatively solid since it spanned 23 episodes but Minagis and Michirus arc was only episode six that we really started getting into it so it got one episode to do it justice and even though its somewhat satisfying in the end there could have been so much more done here. If this arc was given more time then it could have really been memorable and stood out in a way that Clannads arcs do. I will be comparing Air to Clannad in many ways since the art is identical I can genuinely see Clannads girls in Air if I look at their faces hard enough and well if I had to pick which arcs were better than there is only one winner. I believe pretty strongly that the VN will be much better and more satisfying than the adaptation since it should be longer and allow us to get more attached to the characters so when they do disappear you feel that emotional bond. I didnt really feel that at any point in Air while I was still in the process of getting attached to the character than suddenly their arc was already over and after their arc is over they barely get any screen time. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/948927098477772820/unknown.png Misuzus arc which is the longest by far which spans nearly half the show is definitely the best one since it had a respectable amount of time dedicated to it which helps give it the impact it was probably aiming for from the start there are anime that are short and made me get attached to specific characters in a short span of time but Air isnt one of them sadly. I never felt that emotional attachment to any of them really so even though this is a sad anime I didnt really experience the feels and apparently I was supposed to since its considered a sad anime and on a similar scale to Clannad which is just wrong as I barely got the feels anywhere in the show ending of episode six and the final episode were were the closest ones but even those didnt break me. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/948928169262604328/unknown.png Not sure if Kannas arc can be considered as one but if so then this one was incredibly solid and even though it only lasted two episodes it was done really well and I thoroughly enjoyed this one I may even say it was my favorite arc in the whole show similarly how I mentioned the VN earlier. Im sure the VN would do justice to all the girls of the show by giving them the respectable amount of screen time they deserve so even though this show is still enjoyable thats all it is its just a good watch but its not that memorable and doesnt do anything above the average to stand out. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/948929204798504970/unknown.png Now since there are many girls in this show one may ask the question as to who is best girl? For Clannad my answer is immediate but here in Air Im not too sure honestly since the show doesnt hide the fact Misuzu is main girl of the show but that doesnt necessarily mean she is the best one however since the other girls get so little screen time you dont have enough time to really appreciate their personalities so thats why that specific question is pretty difficulty for me in Air. If you enjoy Kyotos works and liked Clannad then you may like Air too but I may need to read the VN at some point to really experience the greatness that Air may potentially be since at the moment its just a good show in my books but nothing more. I may have set my expectations too high since it was Kyoto and was supposed to be like Clannad and since it never reached Clannads level I may have been left disappointed hence the low rating.
