Konnichiwa As usual before starting my review I specify that it is in two parts the first in French my native language and a second which is in English you just have to go down a bit. Its a lot of work for me and it would be a shame if it was spoiled by the language barrier. Have a good reading and a good day no spoil guarantee 620https://www.tvqc.com/wpcontent/uploads/2020/08/burnthewtichanimefilmtitekubo.jpg Part I: BURN THE WITCH Kubo nous livre til une nouvelle aventure passionnante? Part II: BURN THE WITCH Kubo is delivering another fascinating adventure? 620https://www.manganews.com/public/images/pix/serie/27506/BurntheWitchmangavisual3.jpg I wont hide it from anyone but Im a big fan of Tite Kubos work and especially of his legendary manga: Bleach. So when Burn the witch was announced I was quite excited to see what the European part of Kubos universe would look like. The visuals were catching my eye and even though it took me a while to get my hands on it it was bound to happen sooner or later. It should be noted that I will only talk about the first volume of Burn the wicth the only one to be released for the moment and that it contains 5 chapters I might update this review one day because the sequel should be released Lets summarize the universe: Kubo moves us to the UK where the problems are not caused by the famous hollows of Soul society but by dragons. One sentence stands out to describe this: Since the dawn of time 72 of deaths in London are caused by dragons beings with unusual shapes. To make a long story short in the past dragons coexisted with humans but that time is over they became hostile and tried to deprive humans of life and home. To protect themselves London founded an organisation: Wing Blind a group of wizards capable of fighting the evil dragons. The two protagonists of our story Niihashi Noel blackhaired witch on the picture above and Nini Spangle blondehaired witch are part of Wing Blind in the pipers unit. For the rest I let you discover it by yourself. The review: Giving an opinion on an intro is a complex task all the pieces are not yet in place so my appreciation does not concern the whole work but rather the starting point keep this element in mind. The universe: With Londonverso and Wind Blind we repeat the Soul societyShinigamis scheme but in a British version. Does the sauce still work from a personal point of view yes Im still as charmed by this hidden unsuspected universe which in the end explains a lot about the real world. On the contrary some people might be put off by this repetitive Bleach pattern and who doesnt hide from it one might to cry out at the authors choice of 0 risktaking its a bit the case indeed but it must be underlined that the two worlds are not untouched copies all the same dragons and hollows seem to be different and their hunters Wizards and Shinigamis as well. The only problem I would point out is that for a kind of intro that seems to be in charge of introducing us to this universe the whole thing is quite mute I was expecting to learn a lot more at times its very enigmatic the reading is even complicated sometimes... An example: why touching a dragon would necessarily lead to a death sentence or imprisonment for a human no answer... its just thrown out like that? 620https://medias.comixtrip.fr/wpcontent/uploads/2021/03/burnthewitchbanniC3A8re1200x675.jpg The drawing: A very important aspect to me here it is incredible I am in love with the way Kubo draws. His drawing is like a good wine the older it gets the better it gets. Overall he brings to this shonen and as for Bleach a mature touch that other mangas of the style do not have at all. In short Im won over on this side The script: This is probably the most important point and for the moment I am divided. The problem is that like the universe the author doesnt take any risks you can feel that he is in his comfort zone. So I had on the one hand this taste of potential which is not entirely fully used but on the other hand it should be remembered that it is a kind of intro and under this prism I find that it is a good introduction. The pace of the story may be very fast but it didnt make me stop. Afterwards I hope that the series in its sequel will dare to do more to develop more but here again we have to wait. I wouldnt go further on this point. The characters: This is the point not to be missed for me Especially in an intro. And the characters of Burn the witch as a whole I liked them a lot. Thanks to the drawings but also by their attitudes and way of being. Niihashi and Nini are a bit like yin and yang I cant wait to discover their story to find out why and how they became witches for Wing Blind. In just a few chapters I found them endearing and without real reasons yet there is a lot missing about them. There is also Banx Jr and balgo who even if they are quite stereotypical make me want to continue the adventure. The only problem is with the secondary characters there are quite a bunch of them and their presentation is not always... enough for my taste but I guess thats a point on which only the sequel will be able to tell us more... 620https://media.comicbook.com/2018/07/burnthewitch11206711280x01121656.jpeg?auto=webpwidth=1200height=660crop=1200:660smart Conclusion: Burn the witch is for me a pretty good entry in this new branch of the Kubo universe its not perfect of course but I feel a real potential behind it I doubt however that it could surpass its big brother Bleach. Im looking forward to the sequel because I know that Kubos work promises something that could be more than interesting. To be continued... It was complex to write this review on this beginning of work in any case as the author writes he loves to work in a relaxed way and in this Burn the witch we feel it I really hope that the sequel will live up to my expectations. PS: This evaluation it was necessary to: 2 glass of lemonade Some peanuts 3hours 46 of time A sound environment composed of : Nivana Incesticide album and Korn Follow the leader album. Many thanks for reading
