D.Gray Man: A Review 550https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1003798449243824248/1003962482647376003/IMG1525.png Introduction Ive been following D.Gray Man for a while now and just now wanted to make a review on how much I love it. D.Gray Man is made by the talented mangaka Katsura Hoshino https://anilist.co/staff/96892/KatsuraHoshino and is mostly known for DGM. The way of storytelling and art that she draws is just an absolute joy to see but of course depressing at most and that which makes D.Gray Man so special. DGM has a special feeling whenever you turn over a page and is not your ordinary shounen manga as it has its complexities which shocks the readers including me way to many times. Katsura Hoshino is just a legendary mangaka that deserves to all the praise she gets. Story and Characters 500https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1003798449243824248/1003963534125838356/IMG1527.jpg The story is set in a fictional 19th century and this series follows Allen Walker who joins the organisation called the Black Order and becomes an Exorcist. The Orders primary goal is to put an end to the Millennium Earl and his plans to destroy humanity with his army of Akuma. Allen along with the exorcists are able to fight against the villainous Akuma using Innocence which is the thing that can put a stop to them. The Earl gathers the Noah Family who have the ability to destroy Innocence yeah hella strong. The both sides are after the Heart which is the most strongest piece of innocence. Victory is sure for whichever finds it. The story isnt all this basic however with deep philosophy and the intellectual complexities within this story make it more intense and overall more enjoyable. Within the latest chapters which have been releasing more and more of this is becoming more evident and just blows your mind away. Waiting a while for a chapter to come out is totally worth it as nearly the whole time my reaction would be wait what the fuck or something along those lines. Not only is the story extremely interesting and captivating the characters are also a reason of why some would want to continue reading. Starting off with the protagonist Allen Walker which in my opinion is one of the best main characters ever not just because hes a badass but how he plays a role within the series. From his childhood to where he is now he had suffered through many things and still tries to smile in the end. As a child Allen was abandoned by his family because of the surreal left arm he has and they sold him to a circus. He was later taken in by Mana Walker and began to itinerant with him. Mana later died alone Allen was desolated and lifeless. This was the chance for the Millennium Earl to take his chance and manipulate Allen and making Mana into an Akuma. Furiously Mana then curses him and Allens arm which is actually a piece of Innocence then activated without his consent and started chasing after Mana. After Mana told Allen that he loved him and adjured to be destroyed Allen using his arm had exorcised Mana and resulting in killing him a second time.Allens hair turned white from the traumatic experience and his left eye gets cursed to perpetually see the suffering souls bound within Akuma leading to his decision to live for their sake. 500https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1003798449243824248/1003964319890935898/IMG1529.jpg The other characters such as Lenalee Yu Kanda and Lavi are also legends and they make the story more and more enjoyable as its not just Allen carrying the story. During the arcs they progress with immense character development. The characters are all badass in their own ways and are very unique. You dont see the cast in DGM exactly like any other anime/manga. For example Komui Lee who is Lenalees brother has a unique personality Komui is initially shown as a very idiosyncratic and goofy character however kind of sadistic and occasionally borderline maniacal. The cast is an enjoyable bunch including the villains. Tykki Mykk definitely being my favourite as hes badass and just being hella cool and a high percentage of liking him. Art Katsura Hoshino is a really talented artist and uses this as an advantage to make the story more enjoyable as its really clean. The art has drastically changed throughout and the years and is an achievement. Here is a comparison between chapter 1 and 213. Katsura Hoshino not only outdid herself with her story but with her art too their is always an improvement to the art chapter by chapter. 450https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1003798449243824248/1003988490071056514/IMG1542.jpg 450https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1003798449243824248/1003965191714787338/IMG1532.jpg Reccomendations If youre interested in D.Gray Man or have read through D.Gray Man I urge you to read The Case Study of Vanitas https://anilist.co/manga/86568/TheCaseStudyofVanitas/ Pandora Hearts https://anilist.co/manga/33031/PandoraHearts/ and Fullmetal Alchemist https://anilist.co/manga/30025/FullmetalAlchemist/. These manga have some similarities and are all extremely very good Im very biased towards Jun Mochizuki works since their really good are are my favourites. I would say that all of these works are masterpieces and yeah I highly recommend checking them out. 450https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1003798449243824248/1003965596444151818/IMG1530.jpg
