SPOILERS BEWARE Cautious Hero is an isekai anime from mid 2019 and for the most part I was going to brush this off as a comedic isekai that had its own charm and personality yet nothing special this idea of mine was completely crumbled because of the last two episodes the mood swing was truly fantastic and went from comedy to hardcore drama with one single backstory of Arias former world that she was unable to save we got to see exactly what happened in the final moments of that world and now looking back it makes sense as to why Rista is extremely clingy to Seiya. Seiya for me personally is a very hard character to like for the majority of the show his attitude to people is atrocious he is certainly overpowered but his arrogance and attitude is god awful now by the end of the show it may seem like he was doing it out of the goodness of his heart but his sharp tongue speaks for itself and his personality definitely pissed me off throughout the anime only and I mean ONLY in the final two episodes can he be somewhat likeable sure enough he had moments where he saved Elulu Mash and even Rista but then proceeded to call the dragonkin duo his precious barrage holders with this he does something that makes me like him but then proceeds to ruin it with his sharp tongue and this is constant throughout the show. This is where a saying goes would you rather have someone with good attitude but poor experience or someone with poor attitude but good experience? I would always pick the former since attitude is way more important then power or experience in this case for me. All and all I can see what they tried to do with Seiyas character but I personally simply wasnt a fan of him and his abusive personality made the show very annoying at times. I want to touch on the goddesses since there is quite a few different kinds that we experience throughout the show firstly Mitis the goddess of archery is a straight up nude exhibitionist that would certainly enjoy some erotic roleplay that one scene where she ties herself up completely nude on the tree was truly a spectacle to behold normally I would ask how she managed to even do that herself but shes a goddess so probably has certain ways lol. It was rare to see a male MC completely unfazed by such an erotic display yet Seiya brushed it off like it was nothing with no emotion on his face. Next would be Adenala the goddess of destruction initially she had no interest in her own appearance but in the few days since she met Seiya her world got turned upside down as she straight up fell in love her appearance when she was handing the cake to Seiya was adorable which was essentially her also confessing her love to him. The last goddess I wanted to mention would be Rista and Im sure I wont be the only one that sees so many similarities between her and Aqua from Konosuba both are literally treated as useless goddesses since whenever they tried to do any good it would only make them look like a fool Rista finally was able to play her goddess part in saving Seiya from the recoil of using Gate of Valhalla but we saw how that ended since he was forced to use another anyway. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/670745625670713353/890362027699216384/unknown.png This leads me to the final points I want to mention on this anime the final two episodes as mentioned earlier completely changed how I perceived this show for the past ten episodes I thought Cautious Hero would be a pretty forgettable isekai till I reached the 11th episode and boy did that make sure I wont forget this one that easily I love my backstories in shows so giving an entire episode to the backstory of Arias failed world was definitely a treat and much more than I could have anticipated you may have heard the saying the world is a small place which essentially means that you meet the same people more than once in random circumstances that you wouldnt think would be possible in this case I know its anime which is fantasy where normal logic doesnt really apply however it would still be miniscule odds for Rista to summon Seiya out of all the possible heroes and yes I know his stats where stacked for a level 1 hero but still. The reasoning this is so huge is present in Arias backstory Tiana who would later be resurrected as the goddess Rista was Seiyas lover as she was carrying his child in the world that Aria failed to save this also explains why she is so clingy to him from the start of the show their memories may have been forgotten but their feelings stayed within their souls its only right at the end that both learn the truth about their former human world Rista and Seiya I mean. This backstory definitely touched my heart and made Seiya somewhat likeable since without this backstory he probably would have stayed as my least favorite character simply from his toxic and ungrateful personality I suppose deep down he truly cares about his friends but acts like a tsun and doesnt show it on the outside. Perhaps deep down I actually cared for him since I was overcome with emotion and shed a few tears as he dying after using Gate of Valhalla for the 2nd time. I certainly wasnt expecting this anime to turn into a drama right at the end but Im glad it did since these last two episodes were without a doubt my favorite from the show and its thanks to these two episodes that the overall rating of the show just skyrocketed for me. Also seems like its source is still releasing so there is certainly a possibility for a S2 which I definitely wouldnt mind at all.
