SPOILERS BEWARE Nekopara is an adaption of the Nekopara VN which was released a few years ago and well this is a pure fan service anime if you dont like the VN then dont watch this as you will probably be confused and hate it since there isnt really a plot or story here. I noticed it adapts parts of the VN but most of it is actually new content consisting of a new cat Cacao which is taken in by the Minaduki household. This anime has the romance tag slapped on which is actually false advertising since there is very minimal romance in the show back in the VN the romance consisted mainly between the six catgirls and Kashou but in the anime its very minimal and the only two that show it even remotely are Chocola and Vanilla. I feel like the tag was simply added cause of the VNs nature. Well there isnt romance between the Kashou the MC and the catgirls but there sure is plenty between the catgirls themselves and even Cacao. By the latter episodes it seems like Kashou becomes a side character and Cacao becomes the MC of the show as she practically becomes the main centre of attention of each episode. I do have to say that this show is pretty heartwarming and emotional at times too and its great to see Nekopara characters animated since I loved the cast of the VN back when I first played it and I still love the cast now. My favorite catgirl still being Vanilla for obvious reasons kuuderes rule but Cinnamon is as great as I remembered there is just something very interesting about a super perverted catgirl. Nonetheless all the catgirls are great and make for an enjoyable experience whether youre playing the VN or watching the show. The entire show is just super adorable and myself as a huge fan of the VN love this show but looking at it from a standpoint of a viewer who hasnt played the VN this show wont be that enjoyable since I as mentioned earlier there is hardly any plot and its just mostly fanservice for all us Nekopara lovers out there. I am giving it credit where its due and that is being the adorable and wholesome show it actually is its very lovely dovey and some people may cringe to it which is fair enough but I love this kind of stuff so it flies high with me take for example episode 11 I believe when Cacao writes a thank you latter to Chocola and Vanilla this is super wholesome adorable and surprisingly has the feels. I will finish on the note that I much rather prefer the VN as it is mainly based around romance between the six catgirls and Kashou but this adaptation is still enjoyable as a huge fan of Nekopara but it does throw the whole idea of a harem right out the window.
