https://ur.com/7Gnrddi.jpg So The Daily Life of the Immortal King is a Chinese animation about this guy named Wang Ling whos like the strongest magician in the world or something the show Is essentially Saiki K combined with Irregular at Magic High School minus the incest. Actually its pretty much exactly like Saiki K whereas the main protagonist in both shows is super powerful but is really bored with his life and wants nothing to do with others but unfortunately he keeps tracking attention to himself and somehow ends up with many people around him Now Ill start with what I liked about this show. I really like the art style and the animation I think when it comes to art styles Chinese artists can really knock it out of the park with their designs it really does go with the animation. Honestly I should give props to the animators and production team behind this project because I would say the animation pretty much carries this entire show. You can tell they were really trying to make this look as good as possible and I would even say Its animation is a lot better than a lot of mainstream anime. 500https://ur.com/k7tLHam.gif 500https://ur.com/13fDtmc.gif Although thats pretty much where my praises end because Ill say that the biggest issue with this show is that the characters just arent very interesting. The shows whole schtick is that Wang Lings character is an overpowered emotionless guy who wants to be left alone but I would say that those types of characters just dont work in this type of show. The reason it works in shows such as Saiki K Mob Psycho and One Punch Man is because of the context of how Its presented. It works in Saiki K and One Punch Man because those shows were mainly comedies and were using those tropes for laughs the majority of the time. It works in Mob Psycho because while Mob is emotionless what makes him interesting is his internal struggles and emotions. The reason it doesnt work here is that this series Is mainly a sliceoflife romcom and those genres dont typically have an amazing plot or anything Its also not a comedy so shows like this heavily relies on Its characters to carry it. You could argue there are comedic moments spread out here and there but the comedy isnt the main focus of the show Its the sliceoflife element thats on the front stage. The characters are just written in one way we have the main overpowered emotionless protagonist who wants to be left alone we have the female lead who thinks highly of herself and is in love with the male lead we have the jock character whos good at physical things but is pretty stupid and finally we have the fat smart nerd character. They really dont develop any further than this and essentially stay that way throughout the entire show. In conclusion If youre looking for a fun show and dont really care about something with a heavy plot and just want to have a good time sit back and relax then I would recommend this. However if youre more into plot characterheavy stories then I wouldnt really suggest watching this. As for me I enjoyed it for what it was the art style and animation were pretty to look at and the fight scenes were enjoyable to watch but the characters just didnt do it for me other than that https://ur.com/GiuzIRS.gif
