https://images4.alphacoders.com/252/thumb1920252906.png So Baccano is a crime show that doesnt really have a main setting its set between the late 1920s and early 1930s but the show keeps jumping back and forth between those dates. The plot of this show instead of having one overarching story has several plot lines set throughout these different time periods that slowly intersect with one another and by the end of the series merge into one. The different plotlines that happen are about a continental train with a supposed monster on board a war between two mafia families and a young girl looking for her brother and these are all set during different time periods. The show also doesnt have just one main character as this is an ensemble and there are a lot of characters that are all equally as important to the plot. This is also the type of show where you have to keep your brain on the entire time and constantly pay attention to whats happening because this show wont wait for you once you start you instantly go along with the ride as there is no slowing down. How It Makes It All Work https://c.tenor.com/nHxf6qjJ5ygAAAAC/baccanohappy.gif Now a lot of people may be wondering that there is no way a show like this can even properly function with that much stuff happening at the same time but surprisingly enough it manages to take so many characters plotlines time periods and somehow makes it all work. The plotlines are very basic theyre nothing to write home about but Id say what makes this show for me at least are the characters. As I said before there are several plot points that happen throughout these 16 episodes and with there being a lot of characters you are bound to like several of them because of their charisma and enjoyability. All the best characters in the show arent present in just one plotline theyre scattered throughout all of them so even if youre not the biggest fan of the story you may still find enjoyment from the characters. Id say what makes this different from other ensembles is that it gives each and every character an equal amount of screen time and importance. My problem with most shows that feature ensembles are that the majority of the time only a handful of characters are important while the rest are just reduced to background NPCs. Most of the time it felt like those types of shows had a lot of characters just for the sake of having them Im looking at you Bleach thankfully this show does actually feel like a proper ensemble. My two favorite characters are Isaac and Miria. These two are so much fun to watch just because of the fact that they end up in all these lifethreatening situations without somehow taking any damage whatsoever. Nearly every character is so much fun and Ill say that I liked pretty much every single one of them in this show. Thats how good I think the writing is its very rare for a show or a movie to hook me this much and make me like every character but this series pulls it off with ease. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblrmdpyp8IRL41rkmjjzo1500.gif Twas The Ancient Language of Fun Ill say this right now the characters and plot are very basic and arent the most complex when it comes to storytelling but as I said in several other of my reviews not every story needs to be an obscure show about depression or politics or any other type of heavy theme sometimes people just dont feel like watching a Monster or code geass level of plot they just want to relax and have fun. Granted some people may think that I contradicted myself by mentioning earlier that you have to keep your brain on and pay attention when watching this but that really goes for any show movie or book. If youre not paying attention to whats happening then youre not going to understand it and if you cant understand it then you wont enjoy it as much. For this show just crank up your paying attention levelness up by a few notches 300https://m.mediaamazon.com/images/M/MV5BZmUxZTU2ZjctN2JjNy00MmY0LTk3ZWQtN2FlMGM5NjRkZmQ0XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTM1NTIzOTI1.V1.jpg So yeah that was my review of Baccano. I dont really have more to say about this show other than if you havent already watched it what the hell are you doing reading this review? Drop everything youre doing and go watch it right now Also just pay attention a little bit more than you usually do. https://c.tenor.com/6cRoCqYYzi8AAAAC/iwouldrecommendithighlyrecommend.gif
