SPOILERS BEWARE This movie is broken down into two parts the first half hour of this movie is essentially a recap of the most important events from the anime series. As someone who believes Fruits Basket to be one of the best series out there the first half hour was quick to remind me exactly why I cherish and fell in love with this franchise. However Im not here to talk about the anime series although the portrayal of it in those thirty minutes was definitely stunning. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/977550893799071754/unknown.png The second part of the movie which spans the remaining hour is focused on Kyouko and Katsuya which is the main piece of the pie we all came for. This part was handled beautifully too. Kyouko had awful parents mostly her dad as her mother didnt really offer much input to prevent the toxic situation that was brewing within her family. Kyouko met Katsuya in the classroom by chance one day however he understood everything that she wanted without her saying anything. This is likely since he found himself in a similar boat all alone. He was an absolute badass in this movie sadly he passed away at an early age due to his condition leaving a broken Kyouko behind. While what looked like attempted suicide she heard the word Mommy which brought her back to her senses and reminded her that she still has Tohru which she completely forgot about. You know how kids make me feel at this point. Tohru didnt have an easy childhood either losing her father early and then her mother as well before she even graduated high school however this didnt prevent her from being one of the greatest heroines Ive ever witnessed in an anime. Dear god let us all protect Tohru till the very end since she is such a beloved character that deserves all the happiness in the world. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/977550206998560768/unknown.png Hanasaku Iroha spoilers: To conclude I was not disappointed in the slightest by what this movie portrayed. Ive been waiting patiently for this movie since I finished the anime and the wait was well worth it. I am extremely satisfied by the backstory that I was shown for Kyouko and Katsuya as it showed a realistic side to two characters that struggled in life till they found their other half. It also portrays with good reason that not everyone needs to accept you all you need is to be accepted by your close loved ones and as long as you arent alone then there will always be hope at the end of the tunnel. My stance on Fruits Basket hasnt dwindled in the slightest in the few months since I finished the anime. I still strongly believe it to be the greatest adaption Ive seen while retaining its title as my absolute favorite anime.
