Considerations This is a spoilerfree review. 90+ in my rating means masterpiece. Ive read the master edition. It appears to have some small differences if compared to the original work but nothing major. The Story Killy is a man of few words. He drags himself through countless levels inside the giant labyrinth of concrete and steel in which he exists. Armed with an extremely powerful gun he will fight with any futuristic aberration to achieve his goal to find the Net Terminal Gene. The story of BLAME is pretty good. I do admit that the story can get very confusing because of the complexity of the world. There are many factions and pieces of information that keep changing but that doesnt affect the general pacing as the objective will always be to find the Net Terminal Gene. Theres a fair amount of violence and horror in this manga. People get dismembered decapitated burnt and much more. Everything is done fairly well it doesnt feel like your average battle shonen but rather something more crude and complex. The Art Style The art style is ridiculously good. Ill start by addressing the negative side. Human faces are terrible in my opinion theres a massive gap in between the eyes without the drawing of nose bridges and that looks terrible. Every enemy is very unique. Killy has one companion and there are a few supporting characters. Theyre not overly developed but the mystery goes well with the chaotic world. As I always like to talk about main characters Killy was a good main character. His silent but competent vibe mixes well with everything. He felt to me like Gutts with a gun. Conclusion If youre like me you skip everything and read only the conclusion because you dont want to get spoiled with other themes. So I will try to be brief on this point: Absolutely read it If you like scifi BLAME is a must. If you can handle the violence and some confusion then you should read it too. By far the best world building Ive seen in any manga or manhwa. What a great and unique concept. The creativity of the author is something out of this world.
