Candy Boy did indeed surprise me. Early on the series I thought is this really a yuri anime? Theres not much going on here that can be considered as yuri. however as the story progress towards the end you will eventually get the idea of the deeper meaning of their relationship. Perhaps Ive said this unconsciously couple of times before but this time this couple is the most lovely I have ever seen. The twin sister chemistry is very strong with a great mixture of romanticism a lot of affectionate care for each other. Though their type of romance is more to a purely platonic. its just super winsome bonding. seriously I love them so much. Other parts I love is their casual conversations are super cozy and nice. I like to see them joking around flirt a bit or even talk about their future family and school work. Its super refreshing to see a healthy siblings relationship having a good time together. And I might be weird but the voice actors did an excellent job in portraying a completely normal everyday life verbally. Their interaction is just completely ordinary but somehow its attractive and melt my heart when listening to them. The characters are quite great as well. Like I said our main couple are the best and the highlight of the anime. It just feels natural and again I might be sound like a weirdo but the fact that their siblings makes me want to cheer them even more. It just so much sense for them to support each other say the word I love you among them crying smiling and sleeping on the same bed while holding hands literally everywhere. I dont really care incest because it actually doesnt feel wrong at all. Its not like theyre kissing on the bed or did something horny like what you might see in yuri anime. Their interaction is exactly what a twin sister in real life would do if they truly love each other. It is totally understandable and relatable. Nevertheless I understand audiences discomfort because of the premise. Also the side characters Shichan and Sakuchan are also very joy to watch. Sakuchan acts as supposely third person between their relationship but ends up playing as the comedic role of the anime. I enjoy all of their jokes its classic and natural. While Shichan is the one providing a little emotional drama to the story. The little arc about them wanting to be together as siblings forever is very cute and heart warming definitely a tearjerker worthy. Furthermore another thing I love about it is the background scenery. Maybe it doesnt matter so much but I absolutely love the details of their dorm like everything looks so real from the boxes around the room to every single object on top of the table. The details on the cell phone cameras are also very well done showing how much efforts the producing teams has put to make it look like a movie. The animation also quite smooth sometimes I noticed they had some unique shots while the characters are talking. Plus the music is super nice they just hit on my taste. Especially the first ED song Koi no Katachi by KANA. I might listen to it for the next few weeks now. Too bad I cant find any details about the song even about the artist and its only available in Youtube unofficially. All the 4 songs brought an oddly nostalgic emotions because well you know when listening to 2000s Jpop there is a kind of strange feeling that you can instantly noticed: yup this song is definitely made for 2000s animes. Theyre just so good. This review also for the whole series the episode 0 side story and whatever there is. Its just too bad they only had like 11 episodes in total with 1020 minutes each. Feel like there is so much to explore in their world setting and characters lore maybe the original source is just this much. overall I had a fantastic time will definitely miss this anime and worth a couple of rewatch.
