SPOILERS BEWARE After rewatching the first season I had a slight interest to see where S2 would take this generic but fun romcom. Unfortunate to say this season is pretty much the same that the prequel had offered. Dont get me wrong I feel like the relationship is progressing forward but at an excruciatingly slow pace in which even by the final episode we still dont get a genuine confession. We get as far as both Sakurai and Hana realizing that subconsciously their feelings are mutual however neither has taken the extra step to confirm the others feelings. I binged this season in less than a day which tells you I enjoyed it however it leaves me wanting more as there is yet to be a major development in their relationship. This is a romcom so I expect the progress to go at a snails pace but it would have been the perfect conclusion if one of them had actually confessed even in a roundabout way. Ending the season in the way it was is a missed opportunity to go out in a bang and create hype for the upcoming sequel assuming there will be one of course. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064623741780377610/image.png Compared to the prequel this season offers much more serious scenarios where Sakurai and Hana would genuinely be seen as a couple. The ending of the first episode is a perfect example of this which has them falling asleep together in essentially an embrace. Another would be the divination reading at the school festival which yielded extraordinary results that they have very good chemistry with one another. Lastly Hana is the person who Sakurai spends the most time with whether its on campus or in his own time which again sends a clear message to everyone in the show as well as us the audience that theyre likely dating but...they arent? Why? Since they compliment one another so well At the end of S1 I believed this would be a when not if but at the rate this is progressing its got me wondering whether their feelings will really come out into the open. Clearly you can understand my frustration Im patient if the payoff will be worth it but Im not so sure all this waiting will be justified for Uzakichan. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064622925040324608/image.png One of the new and probably most entertaining characters introduced this season would be Yanagi Uzaki who is Hanas little sister. Shes the younger sly and smug sister that wants to know all about her sisters love life. I do mean it when I say she wants to get involved as her screentime picks up and she starts taking bold decisions which really put Hana on edge. Yanagi is the rival which we didnt have which allowed Hana to take her sweet ass time believing no one would take her senpai from her. Naturally Yanagi only teases her sister but Hanas reactions are of a serious tsundere. We all know she likes him the cast of the show knows this heck even she herself deep down knows this is the truth but...still cant find the courage to take that scary step which may jeopardize their relationship. Well even Sakurai knows this as her father accidentally blurted it out to him earlier in the season with everything set in stone it would have made for a perfection conclusion to get their feelings known but sadly we are forced to wait till next season. Of the new characters introduced this season Yanagi has easily been the most pleasant surprise and shes only 14 yet so bold Also I really REALLY wanted to see her eyes which I speculate have to be blue but again I didnt get that either... 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064624776842326088/image.png Amidst all the lovey dovey scenes weve seen Hana and Sakurai find themselves in as well learning a lot of novelty this season the pacing is excruciatingly slow and feels like we havent made much progress since S1 besides the aforementioned mutual feelings which they both subconsciously have for one another. As enjoyable as the season was at the time looking back on it now makes me realize what wasted potential this season was since the progression is so small over so much time. Like mentioned in my previous review of Uzakichan this show is very similar to Takagisanhttps://anilist.co/anime/99468/TeasingMasterTakagisan/ however this show also started slow but picked up so much over its seasons that it makes Uzakichan laughable. I really had higher expectations for S2 after rewatching the prequel but Im disappointed with where this season concluded as it could have been so much better Its still fun and enjoyable but sadly not memorable as it just feels like S1 all over again.
