Second season of Jin Qius Facelift Game and we couldnt ask for better. The story develops in a much more interesting way than in the first season with more rounded and believable characters. The plot picks up where we left off with Yi Rong who is a fugitive at the end of the first season she looked to have found peace this time and is on the run from an organization that wants to take over her phone. Meanwhile the sister/priestess of Hei one of the protagonists of the first season works in the shadows with someone and a killer tries to pursue Yi Rong with the help of Lian Nas first season character sister. We are introduced to Chen Mao who is also ugly and harassed by others but tries plastic surgery that went badly affecting her face and getting worse. Unlike Yi Rong our Chen Mao looks like a much more real character. Her use of the phone leads her to do bad things but these are more revenge. She enters into a very realistic modus operandi. She takes advantage of her beauty to surround herself with sugar daddies and indulge in sexual whims with people she liked in her college years and who never gave her a chance. This is a breath of fresh air because compared to other similar works the characters always have a monastic redemption at the end with growing moral qualms and we readers rarely see evil win. The ending is much more tragic than the first season because Chen Mao also involves innocent people. Not here both Yi Rong and Chen Mao are not beautiful people and in the end whether we like it or not they win. The artwork has improved a lot compared to the first season there are also much more defined backgrounds and no filler chapters as happened with the first season. Chen Mao herself is not immediately this beauty bomb like Yi Rong was Jin Qui must have noticed that perhaps for Yi the change had been too radical and therefore Chen Mao changes her face but her body remains imperfect and only with the use of the app and its mandatory tasks she is allowed to shape her beauty. The ending is very raw unfortunately the other two open storylines fall a bit into a void without a real conclusion. I dont want to dive into explanations or personal speculations as it would bring spoilers but the ending at least for others involved is pretty open. The Face Lift app will never stop and it almost represents a sort of divine intervention to save those who are harassed and ugly but in doing that they have to go through a dismemberment of their soul almost like a pact with the device/devil. An excellent series with a brilliant second season and a memorable Manhua.
