YOAKEMONO I really like this shonen manga. It has so many identificable characters with a nice design. Even being a shonen the mangaka draws battle scenes very shocking that keep the tension during all the chapter. The serie has the typical shonen protagonist but it doesnt bother while you are reading. The idea of using swords with different habilities keep your atttention on which power will have the next sword or how its owner is going to use it in a confrontation. It also uses Japanese references for the animals that characterize ich sword mythological bests current kind of animal of the period where the story takes place... a point which is very intersting for the readers even for the foreign audience that allow us to learn a bit more of the Japanese culture. The mangaka Yusaku Shibata used to work for Eiichiro Oda in One Piece as one of his assistant so you can feel a little of influence in his style you can appreciate so many aspects that are very similar to the glorious One Piece manga. One of the drawback that I found was that this manga was cancelled but the main reason was that those months the Shonen Jump had too many battle shonens being serialized One Piece Naruto Bleach... so it was difficult to Yoakemono to survive with that competence. It was a pitty because people really like it. This made the serie end very hurriedly with and strange close but you can enjoy the full serie despite it ends up with so maquestions about the plot and many enemies and allies that doesnt show their abilites. So I if you like short shonens of battles and supernatural powers I highly recomend Yoakemono. Hope you like this amazing manga.
