My honest spoiler free opinion on Grancrest Senki take it as you will. Any feedback on the review will be most welcomed This is not a full depth review. Many people have compared the show to Record of Lodoss War but as someone who has not watched this show here is an outsiders opinion. I originally rated Grancest Senki an 8 but after the series finished and I had time to think about the anime Ive revised that back down to a 7. Honestly I feel that this show should have been split into 2 seasons more on that later. The show for me starts pretty slow around midseason is where I got really invested. I enjoyed the main characters development the relationship that grew within the groups and the pacing the show had. The art style for me is good it isnt however the best and the main plot of the story is pretty standard. The show in my opinion benefited from some of the moral questions and decisions the characters had to take to protect/achieve their goals/values I did enjoy. The biggest downfall is in the latter parts of the season the whole pacing falls apart. There are just too many time skips this in turn leaves to many questions unanswered. It happens around episode 18/19 each feels like youve miss out on so much and youre just getting the highlights. Things start to get confusing and after been invested in the series it really feels unsatisfactory. This annoyed me. I know publishers only have a certain number of episodes to finish the story but after the slow beginning and enjoyable paced midseason the ending feels very rushed. The second part of the season felt like it was a whole season itself crammed into one. The only other thing that did kind of ruin the series for me was how some of the characters changed their opinions/goals. Its not a game changing thing about the series it is just something to take into account when thinking about watching the series itself. If the pacing wasnt so bad the series itself would have been a solid 8/10. However because of this leaving me feeling unsatisfied Id have to give it a low 7/10. Is the show enjoyable/entertaining? Yes. Would I recommend the show? Yes. Is the show a masterpiece? A solid no. Breakdown: Story 7/10 Characters 8/10 Art 6/10 Sound 6/10 Enjoyment 8/10 Overall 7/10 Overall show was entertaining I probably wouldnt watch it again.
