First thing I want to say is that I dont rate my shows so the score is just a placeholder. Next thing is that I usually dont do reviews but this one particularly was a good one so I thought why not. So I found this show while browsing the Amazon catalogue which is surprisingly expansive. And thank the lord that Amazon usually only has dubs because if not for that I wouldnt have been able to find this gem of english localization. To add some background to it this show was completely overhauled when it was licensed to the west which in turn made it an entirely different show from its Japanese predecessor. The most significant change the dub made was to the dialogue quickfire gags witty humor and selfawareness to list a few of the things in the western script. Additionally an original new theme song was made for the show the opening and ending where changed too. Also I havent seen the Japanese version of it but I suspect that they may have edited certain parts to add to comedic effect. Story: Each episode follows a basic structure. Introduction villainous scheme arises and then finally the SPCs save the day. The schemes are quite wacky sometimes and the escapes even more so. However aside from that its fairly pedestrian nothing really special about it. Music: The theme in the dub is quite fun and catchy. Its also quite funny not sure how to explain it but there is a certain selfawareness to it. Other than the main theme of the SPC theres nothing to really say about the music. Dialogue/Voice talent: Now this is where the show really shines. Unlike improv shows like Ghost Stories that also change as they were licensed SPC actually has a script to it. This script really adds coherency to it and the punchlines hit way harder because of that. Its fast but not overbearing and cringey. The show knows to stop at certain points to give you a breather of sorts. This is what you get when competent writers and voice talents collaborate. Overall excellent job everything blends together very well. Though some of the audio is sort of obscured but that might just be me. Characters: Characters are basically tropes essentially. Not your developed characters with depth so to speak. They break the fourth wall sometimes and are selfawareness but mainly its the dubbers that carry them. The voice actors are absolutely amazing in their roles. The comedic delivery is fantastic for most of it. 52 episodes chock full of fun and antics. Not sure how many people have actually seen the dub but it was a very satisfying experience for me. It was just the kind of thing I was looking for. If you do decide to check this out then enjoy.
