Light Spoilers purely for show discussion wont ruin any piece of the show or ruin any arcs. I dunno it had some funny and heart warming parts but it just didnt hit as hard as other slice of life. The OP/ED were decent but not great. The background music fit at times but other times I felt it stuck out a little too much. It had a sort of... videogamey background feel to it that I cant quite place. Almost like a light chiptune but not quite. It was odd but nice at times and again other times it felt like it was either a little too loud or detailed and in front. The animation was pretty good sometimes a bit bare. The backgrounds were all done pretty well but it often used angles that lacked depth so there were only a few scenes where they couldnt avoid putting in some background characters. It ended up making them stick out to me when it was there. On top of this sometimes it looked like the shadows of background objects were either wrong or really dark. It was odd and it made some of the objects stick out. On the other hand the characters were pretty detailed and animated well. Even the side characters had detailed enough models to make them memorable and discernible when they showed up. I think the main two characters were fine but everyone else lacked development outside of showing us their actions that revolved around the plot. Some characters especially the club president couldve had an amazing episode either about his laziness or how he feels leaving the club which wouldve tidied up his character a bit more and made him either more relatable or even just gave him some small motives. Colette didnt even really introduce her rich side despite being the summary here. Plot wise I think it lacked any sort of progression among the characters. I guess you could say there was some if you really dig but in a 12 episode season that probably wont see any more episodes any time soon it was pretty lacking. The only exception being two of them randomly turning in to chuunibyous despite starting out as normal characters. Im still not sure where that came from... but it happened. Normally you can compensate this... lack... if the show is comfy enough as the cool kids would say but it didnt really have that feel either. It felt like it was stuck in a hell between being a romantic comedy and a slice of life never really dedicated to either. Youd see something that resembles a development arc and then anything that happened would get thrown out. I think how much someone would enjoy this comes down to what youre watching it for. Dont go in expecting to get plot of someone trying to reform the club. Its not that. Its a pure slice of life centered around characters with quirks and the members working around them. Theres some light romance but its not centered on it either. If you like watching characters have some fun and have some problems then this is the show for you because as the title says The Art Club has a Problem.
