One day around 2am I found this manga randomly while browsing the popular list on Anilist and wow am Im glad I did. I feel its necessary to point out that this series is a great romance with or without the yuri aspect but the yuri aspect adds to it by making it more unique and therefore more noticeable. Bloom Into You perfectly combines many positive attributes from the romance genre such as a will they wont they relationship and a love triangle and these relationships are only boosted by great characters and a plot that makes sense. The most important part of Bloom Into You is the story itself as it keeps you wanting to read all the way until the end. As I mentioned earlier a large focus of this story is on whether Yuu and Touko will actually get together or not because of obstacles such as Yuus personality and Sayakas interest in Touko. A slight detail that I loved is how subtly they showed Touko was attracted to Yuu before she outright said so. Bloom Into You does a good job of not just focusing on the main characters relationships but also creating interesting sister relationships and close friend relationships. For example Sayaka and Toukos relationship as best friends and possible love interests was well thought out and entirely logical as they were similar people who were together a lot. There is also the play arc which spanned most of the manga and created great development such as Yuu promising to stay with Touko and Touko overcoming her internal conflict. I just have to say the connection to the plays main character with Touko in real life was done perfectly and it felt so good to realize. The story itself was very interesting but it also created scenarios for amazing character relationships and development. The characters were easily my favorite part of Bloom Into You and could probably be argued to be more important than the plot itself. If Im being entirely honest Yuu would be a boring character seeming like a slow slice of life character but the other characters make her very interesting and force her to change as a person. Although Touko isnt my favorite character she is definitely the most important and interesting character. Touko deals with the trauma of her sister who died years ago and now she tries to fill her role by putting on the play and being a star student but Yuu helps her realize that shes better off being who she is rather than trying to fill someone elses role. Other than the main characters there are people like Maki who has no desire for romance but rather he wants to watch other romances bloom from the audience. Maki is probably the best side character but that doesnt mean any of the rest arent interesting or wellmade. Not only are all of the characters well made they are also drawn in a pretty art style. Although the art for Bloom Into You isnt Stier or anything its above average. I personally would say that Yuu has one of my favorite character designs in anime/manga. I didnt watch much of the anime but the art in that was also pretty nice but it looks better in the manga. Also something on the side I should mention: I would not recommend watching the anime right now. I watched the first few episodes before realizing it stopped about half way through the manga and dropped it solely because I cant imagine any good stopping point other than the end of the manga. I recommend either waiting for a 2nd season to conclude it or just reading the manga. Edit: Most often when rating anime or manga I just base it off of the story characters and a little bit of art and music. Based off of the story and characters I cant think of any bad parts whatsoever seeing as the characters and story were equally great and the art had no problems the anime had midtier but fitting music. And I will admit that I have somewhat of a bias towards pretty much any decent romance so my score might be inflated. I give Bloom Into You/Yagate Kimi Ni Naru a 10/10.
