Hibiki Tokai from AA now 2Kai because its the second time using this for a username. Also dealt with enough people asking if I role play on there so heres a divergent thats different but mostly the same. Months after I made my account there I changed my username to that of Hibiki Tokai in an attempt to give more recognition to an anime that was my favorite at the time. Its still in my top ten and its an anime I think more should see. Its not the most underrated anime but its a good early 2000s show. Ive seen good anime Full Metal Panic YuGiOh and bad anime Love Hina Tenchi Muyou GXP from that time period and Id put it on the good side but admittedly it hasnt aged as well as others. 220https://cdn.donmai.us/original/73/10/ditaliebelymeiagisbornbarnetteorangellojurabasileldenhibikitokaiand9morevandreaddrawnbykurodakazuya7310fd2bca97afa6a1c6f647b071aa5e.jpg Im surprised my mean scores are as low as they are but I have seen some bad shows. I needed to learn to drop more shows in my early college years. Before college I had seen maybe around 50 anime not counting movies for shows like Pokmon and DBZ. You have to understand I grew up with Toonami for at least a few years of my childhood. Not Toonami during Saturday nights that geared more towards adults. Im talking classic Toonami with anime like DBZ Yu Yu Hakusho and InuYasha after school. There were others but those three are the most dear to me. I know kids today have streaming services that introduce them to anime in more ways than Toonami ever could or can but it was an experience I wish I could share with kids today. Toonami holds a special spot in my heart and it deserves a lot of credit for introducing me to anime. 220https://otakudonblog.files.wordpress.com/2016/06/rememberingcartoonnetworkstoonami.jpg I learned of other shows from miscellaneous sources but I cant say I I had seen than many prior to starting college. Thanks to joining Anime Amino finding MyAnimeList and using an app to download episodes instead of just streaming when on campus that number has grown over 10 times larger roughly 10 years later. Which theres a hint about my age. Really all you need to know is Im a guy with a degree who isnt using his degree and Im struggling to find a job I actually like as a result. I cant use my degree because I have a BA and I need a doctorate to work in my field. However that would require taking on college debt and I dont want college debt. So now I mooch off my works WiFi opposed to colleges WiFi to watch most of my anime. I tend to stick to a rating system of 5 with anime. Interestingly I use a system of 10 with video games. 3 will usually be mediocre but nothing bad. If I give a 3 I could still recommend it based on the person. 4 and 5 shows are ones I dont mind being broad with. 5/5 doesnt necessarily translate to 10/10. I can actually give an anime that might be an 8 a 5/5. I could also give an anime that would be an 8 a 4/5. It goes into quality and enjoyment. If a truly great show has enough nitpicks it might be a 4/5 simply because of that. If a sequel is decently better and the previous season was a 4 Ill probably bump it up to a 5. If a show has multiple seasons I might simply give one a higher score to state that season is my favorite even if the quality of each season is similar. Consider a 4 or 5 a good show and Id probably recommend it if you havent seen it. I can also like a show a lot but give it a 3 because I know it has flaws. Rarely will I like something I gave 2 or less. I have a list for shows I think are underrated and feel free to ask me about them. I buy a lot of anime. Id rather buy a handful of titles than pay for streaming as shows can always be removed. Hidive has literally done this to me like two or three times. Streaming isnt preferred but I do have annual sub to Hidive. I also will do Crunchyroll on and off. If only Crunchyroll would let me do a year sub and if Hidive would let me download episodes with their app. The flaw is I dont do so well with two services as I neglect one in favor of the other. This also impacts watching my collection. I have shows I have bought but have yet to rewatch. Seasonal anime need to stop taking up so much of my time. My favorites was originally my top 10 anime and very honorable mentions but Ive expanded it some to include other shows I can start watching right now and breeze through until the end.Typically Ill have the first season in my favorites unless a following season completely blows away the first. Romance Comedy or Romantic Comedies are going to be anime I like the most. However as a clear fan of Vandread mecha anime do have a special spot in my heart even if I dont always show them love. Idol anime are shows I forget how much I enjoy them until I finally pick up a new one and Im more entertained than I expected. When it comes to Shounen battle anime Im burnt out. I still adore classics like DBZ or Yu Yu Hakusho but stuff like Hero Academia I cant watch anymore because the fatigue of the troupes has worn me down. Honestly it makes me sad that Hero Academia is the DBZ for kids today. Art isnt my strong suit visually at least. Animation quality doesnt play much of a factor in my scores. Usually when I notice animation quality its when something is awful. You know the animation is bad if my oblivious self notices.
