He is an incubus a demonic creature that nourishes by draining peoples life. He is unable to suppress his pheromones which are used to lure victims closer. These pheromones are like sparkles around him. Women and even ghosts and males get attracted. Because of this he tends to have a bucket over his head to cover the sparkles. Manachan gave him a cross that nullifies the sparkles which hes wearing all the time. He used to be able to adsorb peoples life force by just being near them but now the only way is by kissing them.
