Welcome to AniList

Korakys
When you see a new person show up on AniList you can use this message to provide a helpful introduction. nbsp300https://files.catbox.moe/r6yrdq.gif Welcome to AniList here are some tips to help you better understand how things work. Status messages Writing status activities on your profile page will mean that they will be displayed on the homepage for everyone to see hence why it is called the global feed. However if you write a message on another persons profile page that will not be displayed in the global feed. There are two community areas on AniList: the global feed which is somewhat like twitter and the forums where more lasting discussion occurs. There is a thread for new usershttps://anilist.co/forum/thread/1 to introduce themselves. Rules The rules are common sense but here are those that are most often unknowingly transgressed: Dont link to or discuss websites that illegally host copyrighted material. Enclose spoilers in a spoiler tag. Do not post hentaitype content on AniList. Ecchi content should be hidden behind a spoiler tag and an appropriate warning message used. The full rules can be found herehttps://anilist.co/forum/thread/14. Stats Statistics calculations are made once per day you can force a manual update by using the Update Stats button in the options menu. This is very useful if youve just imported your list. Activity History An activity is generated every time you write a status update or alter a media entry in your list such as setting an anime to plan to watch or incrementing a mangas chapter progress. However writing a message on another persons page will instead generate an activity for them and marking a title on your list as private will prevent activities being generated for it noone will be able to tell you are reading or watching anything that has the private checkbox ticked. Activity history is pegged to Japanese Standard Time UTC+9. You have to have an activity during the a Japanese day for it to count as a separate day in your activity history. Sometimes an activity box will be appear empty for up to a few hours even after an activity has been generated. Formatting The image markup defaults the size of images to 220 pixels wide. You can adjust the width of your images by adjusting the number 220 to match the number of pixels wide you want the image to be. By the way you cant upload images to AniListyou need to host them offsite and then link to them from here. A common web service to use is ur. ShareX is a program that makes uploading a picture from your computer to an image hosting service easy. Centring and spoilering images at the same time doesnt work well in AniLists markup in that case centre by typing the HTML tag. can be used to end the centring if necessary. Extended formatting guide: https://anilist.co/forum/thread/6125 More simplified version of above: https://anilist.co/forum/thread/6792 Colour Days What are colour days like Green Day White Day etc? A tradition got started of posting pictures of characters with of a certain hair colour on a given day of the year. This threadhttps://anilist.co/forum/thread/4753 has a calender of when each colour day is. It is an entirely community driven thing. You will see various other types of days as well which you can take part in or ignore as you like. They are even more chaotic than the colour days. Hidden Features Be sure to look through all the settings menus for stuff like the 18+ check box. Okay so they are not hidden exactly but often they are not obvious either. Custom lists You can make your own custom lists to go alongside or replace the traditional Watching Planning Completed etc. You name the lists at Settings Listshttps://anilist.co/settings/lists and once that is done go to the page of an anime or manga that you want to add to a list and assign it to a list in its edit window. There are also two special additional check boxes there: Private and Hide from status lists. Private means noone but you will be able to that see that title when viewing your lists and it will also prevent any progression/status updates being automatically generated for it. Hide from status lists means that the title will no longer appear in the default lists Watching Planning Completed etc. 160https://i.ur.com/WIcPgOm.png Advanced scoring Advanced Scoring is a feature that allows you to set custom fields of subscores that will then be automatically tallied up to make a final overall score that appears in your list the final score can also be manually adjusted afterwards.
