Shigeru Mizukis Hitler shows a totally different perspective of a fascinating and terrible time of history. While significant parts of Hitlers time as Fhrer are left out I will come back to that later Mizukis take is a fascinating one and something that not just any mangaka could do. Story 8/10 It is difficult grading a story for something thats nonfiction and It really depends on how well the author managed to capture the essence of the time period. Mizuki did a good job of showing Hitler before people knew him as THE Hitler when he was a young man homeless on the streets whose passion was making art. While Mizuki left out some large portions of what Hitler did like the holocaust it was nice to have a fresh new take on a mostly uncharted time in history. Characters Its a book about Hitler. Come on. In all honesty Mizuki did a good job of trying to see into Hitlers mind but its still terrible what he did and Mizuki skipped everything but the war. I would have loved to see more of Hitlers relationships and how he affected those around him. Art 10/10 Now this I can talk about. Mizuki is known for his amazing mix of ultrarealistic and cartoonish characters in the same panel. Here are some examples. 2000https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/815766205625270293/828993913674268712/057erOyAl0h2A19vw.png?width=333height=452 2000https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/815766205625270293/828993591329554442/22647410.png Mizuki is a master of artistry and that is very true in Hitler. Seeing someone that everyone knows with frazzled hair and a fuzzy mustache Hitler was so weird at first but I really started to enjoy Mizukis style in this book. I would have enjoyed more twopage art pieces like in Mizukis Showa series but the art in this book is phenomenal. Enjoyment low 7/10 While very interesting and informative it was quite slow at times. I would have liked to see more of the Jewss perspective like at the start of the book. I could really see their fear as they heard a car drive by crammed in a closet. I wouldnt call myself a history buff but I Overall 7/10 While I enjoyed this new take on one of the biggest faces in World War 2 let alone history it missed some big points that could have made this book a lot more influential if it were a little longer and took more time to focus on not just the war. Thoughts While not Muzukis best work this is an interesting book that doesnt cover enough content. Its pretty much a short biography of Hitlers life and I expected more. If you go into this book with the mindset that its a biography about Hitler then you might enjoy it. While disappointed in the lack of historical content this book is a marvel to look at and if you can you should read it for the art. Seeing Hitlers reign even 70 years after his death is fascinating and scary and it makes me wonder if Germany will look the same in 1000 years. like Mizuki said This is what Hitler gave Germany. His ThousandYear Reich Hey thanks for reading this review This is my first review hence why its so short and Id really appreciate it if you dropped a like or dislike it lets more people see this review and maybe read this book.
