While starting this manga the first thing you thought was this reminds me of erased consequently if you watched/read the series. If not you probably had somewhat of an equidistant expectation. Regardless of that this manga deserves the hype it gets seeing that during February 2020 Tokyo Revengers had over 3 million copies in distribution. The manga also won the 44th Kodansha Manga Award for the shounen category in 2020. reminder this manga started in 2017 Therefore makes Tokyo Revengers impressive as a 2000s manga. SYNOPSIS: JULY 4TH 2017. Remember that date Naoto And protect your sister. Takemichi. Those words said by our main character Takemichi Hanagaki triggered the start of a time manipulation era for both himself and Naoto. Why? Since Takemichis exgirlfriend Hinata Tachibana and her brother Naoto Tachibana were going to die as victims due to the dispute of the gang Tokyo Manji. Keep in mind that while reading any shounen/seinen manga theres always something that a character does/says that triggers the fundamentals of the manga into starting. After telling Naoto those words Takemichi finds himself back in his regular time regaining consciousness with Naoto appearing and saying You changed my fate on July 4th 2005. You leapt through time Unforntantly his middle school girlfriend didnt make it. Furthermore she died but with the help of Naoto he can go back in time and save the love of this life also fixing the dispute of Tokyo Manji. CHARACTERS: The characters are the heart of any animanga as the apple is the heart of any apple juice. While Im officially caught up to the manga I can evenhandedly say the characters are a 10/10. Protagonist: Ive never watched/read any main character like Takemichi before. Hes unique in his standards. The determination he has to help everyone is unspeakable. Even though hes weak and inefficient when it comes to physical terms but the way he has his influential mindset to never give up no matter what helps him win most of his fights or draws people to desire him. Secondary Characters/Side Characters: Yes the main character is extraordinary... but the side characters put me in awe Why? Once youve read the manga and meet characters like Manjirou Sano Chifuyu Matsuno Ken Ryuuguji youll forget all about the main character and drool for the side characters. If we go into the depth of the secondaries I can 100 say without being biased that the majority of the characters have received excellent character developments. For example take Manjirou Sano whos somewhat of a deuteragonist. At the start of the manga he was your average vital gang member who didnt care about whats right and good moreover had emotional issues due to the loss of someone important to him. Currently around from where Im at he grew to be someone who could protect his companions/relatives and have solid morals while fighting his opponent. He additionally grew to be strongminded so the passing of his beloved ones wouldnt bring him down. Antagonists: Honestly this manga did an excellent job on the antagonists because Ive never hated any antagonist as much up until now. Theres nothing I can say optimistic about the main antagonist Tetta Kisaki because hes shit end of topic. Regardless of Kisaki there are many other antagonists that you can help but love mainly because of their backstories and developments. Female Characters: Yes... I had to touch base on the female characters. Usually when you read any animanga people tend to look for female characters who arent plot devices. Good news There are absolutely no flawed female characters while reading this manga. The bad news there are very few female characters in the manga. Regardless of that the female characters in this are helpful and support the main characters/supporting characters progress in the manga which is very rare while reading any animanga shounen. Character Designs: I dont even have to explain for this one. ILLUSTRATIONS: The art for the manga isnt godly as vagabond berserk claymore etc. but its something and when I say something I mean its something immeasurable. While reading any manga the art has the be topnotch or you wont enjoy it regardless of how good the story is. In my perspective Tokyo Revengers has its elegant style but it might take readers some time to process it because it isnt the same as your ordinary shounen manga art. ENJOYMENT/ENDING: Theres a reason why Tokyo Revengers is of my favorites. Even though the manga isnt completed I can boldly say this manga is a 9/10. While reading this manga Ive cried in different languages because of how the characters moved me. All I can say is that you should prepare yourself a box of tissue because this isnt your average sit and laugh manga.
