This is one of the cutest romances Ive ever read The premise itself is very intriguing and fun and the webtoon didnt disappoint me. It was very solid in every aspect and I loved reading it. Ill split this review into three parts and there will be some slight spoilers so keep that in mind Art style: The style is clean and cute and I love the colours. The general aesthetic is soft pastel etc. The character design reminds me of Gatabutata which is another webtoon I love and would recommend. Some panels were so excellent like the one where the mermaid is sleeping at the bottom of the pool while the boy is floating on the water and it looks like theyre lying side by side? Head in hands moment for me. Characters: The main character Choa is very endearing. She is a strong character in that she drives the story forward is determined to achieve her goal and inspires other characters while also being CUTE. She does have her issues though and I thought her relationship with all her family members was interesting to read about. Now the boy Sooyoung is.... also really cute. I really love when male love interests main personality trait is being kind and Sooyoung was exactly that type of character He had some things going on as well with his swimming competitions which were a nice occasion to see his friends cheer for him I loved those parts theyre very sweet. The second lead Il was a cutie as well he was such a good friend to Choa and I loved his relationship dynamic with Sooyoung. To sum up theres a love triangle but its cute because there isnt this idea that Choa HAS to choose between the two of them because she literally has to decide if she wants to live under the sea with her mom and sisters or on land with her dad like she has priorities and they know it. I loved how close those three became with two other side characters and how their relationship evolved throughout the story. Basically the characters were wellwritten and endearing 10 out of 10. Plot: This had EXACTLY the right number of chapters for the story it had to tell. It wasnt too long it didnt drag out with plotlines that didnt serve the themes of the story and it wasnt too short either it had fluffy chapters throughout which is something thats missing sometimes in this type of webtoon. The plot is very simple and even simplistic I guess but it works I personally like tragic romances and this definitely could have gone on that route but the author simply did not want to do that and I get that because theyre literally high schoolers and I honestly would have felt like shit if bad things had happened to them. I was really engaged with Sooyoungs dilemma because the better Choa swims the farther she gets from him. Things could have gotten so angsty lol. There are some incidents but its not too dramatic in my opinion and there arent any bad guys or characters who are antagonists. Another aspect that I really loved is the friendships that are developed throughout the chapters because they help Choa grow as a person and teach her that she doesnt have to be lonely. I know I talked a lot about the romance but this webtoon is mostly a comingofage story that is gentle and hopeful. To conclude I recommend this to people who are in the mood for a lighthearted story. You wont get any angst but itll definitely be worth it 3
