Spoilers I really recommend that you watch the movie before reading this. Or you can just watch the movie and not read this because my dumb review cant fully describe the beauty of this gem. When I used to watch tv because I didnt have an internet connection A movie called Doraemon: Nobita and the New Steel Troops Winged Angels aired and boy did I cry while watching it. This movie really stuck with me even though I had already watched other Doraemon movies in the past. There was just something special about it. So now that I have this thing called the internet. I searched for the movie and downloaded it with my perfectly legal website. I hoped that it was still as good as I remembered and to my surprise It was. Doraemon: Nobita and the New Steel Troops Winged Angels is a remake of an old Doraemon movie called Doraemon: Nobita and the Steel Troops. And Its better too This is how you make a remake. This movie starts with one of the most beautiful songs that I have heard in anime and fuck you too spotify for not having it available. We see a scientist adding stars to some robots then we cut to our usual stuff. Nobita being.bad at studies Gian and Suneo bullying him etc etc etc. Nobita cries to doraemon for the 5000th time to give him a robot because he promised Suneo and Gian. But Doraemon says no and goes to the north pole because he has had enough of Nobitas shit. Nobita goes to the north pole to find him but he finds a ball instead which can summon robot parts apparently. The ball is a big change in the remake since instead of just a ball we get Pippo from it Which was a really nice addition to the remake. It gave the character an actual personality and it was really fun to watch his interaction with the gang. Suneos robot also gets less screen time in this movie compared to the original but thats fine since those moments were replaced by Pippo moments which are better. His character made Nobita better in the remake since now he had someone to talk and care for Which also made the final scene of the movie way more sadder than the original. Now some time after he finds the robot he goes to the mirror world with Shizuka. She presses a button and boom instant tone shift. Its not just a cherry movie anymore things just got serious. They decide to never use that robot again. Sometimes after Nobita gets saved by Riruru. Now who is Riruru? You may be asking. Well of course she is the bestest girl. She is a robot that is searching for the robot parts so she finds Nobita and takes it back. Nobita doesnt suspect anything so he gives it to her but oh my god what :000000 she is one of the bad gus :0000000. Nobita runs for life and traps the robot army in the mirror world. Now wait a minute he gave her the parts but what about Pippo? Well you see Pippo was trapped in the storage all along and now he is a chicken with a hat. Stuff goes on Pippo sings the beautiful song etc etc etc. But what makes this movie so good for me is.. the ending. So lets talk about it. Shizuka and Riruru go back in time to visit the robots godscientist to fix the errors. To fix the mistakes that led to the robots being so cruel. While he is trying to fix them he has a heart attack and dies. So Riruru has to be the one to do it. She has to be the one to erase and restart everything. She has to be the one to bring a beginning to a new world. A kinder world. In doing that she has to sacrifice herself. Riruru goes from hating all humans to thinking maybe they are not so bad after all to sacrificing herself for their purpose. And that in my opinion is beautiful. We have this scene of her fading away in the past whereas Pippo is fading in the future while Nobita and friends are watching. They know they are going to disappear but they had to do it. To start over and bring in a kinder age. Time passes and we see Nobita sitting on his desk when we hear wing flapping noises. And its a shadow that looks like Riruru and Pippo They have been reincarnated as angels. We see again how this remake improves on the original since in the original we just see Riruru floating. We just see her float in by the side No wings No anything. It just feels so eh compared to the remake. In the remake we hear that beautiful song we heard in the beginning of the movie and it just fades out while Nobita runs off to tell the others. The original movie feels like a happy ending while the remake feels like a hopeful one.
