Starting of this review I want to say that this movie isnt like modern movies where action is the main attraction to the movie although yes the big action set pieces thats always in all DC movies does happen but the mystery does take the main stage in this movie. This movie is considered to be the last classic Detective Conan movie and this movie was also the reason DC movies are more action oriented now since this movie with its minimal action scenes only managed to get 2.15 billion yen which is the 3rd lowest out of all the Detective Conan movies Now onto the actual review. The beginning of the movie it starts out with a flashback on what happened on a cruise ship 15 years in the past to set up the motive of the culprit and after that it cuts to a car accident half a month ago before present time and when it finally shows present time Conan and friends are invited by Sonoko to join her in a cruise called St. Aphrodite belonging to the Yashiro group. You get introduced to a couple of new characters overall the beginning explains the current situation well. Moving on to the middle part of this movie this is where for some people it can get boring. Conan and his friends play hide and seek while 2 murders happen this is also the part where the other policeman appear and play a role in this movie. After some investigating its finally time for the final part of the film. Now onto the climax personally I really liked the plot twist in this movie it was very surprising but it still made sense and I also love that Mouri Kogoro was the one that actually solves this case He has his moments in the manga and the tv anime but I still wish he has more moments like this but whatever I guess we cant always have what we want. Now onto the things that I didnt like about the movie the overall ending after the case was solely to create fake tension especially with Rans scene If youve watched this movie you know what Im talking about and the boring middle part but other than those 2 I dont have any major complaints. this section went longer than I expected The next sections will most likely be a lot shorter Characters : 8/10 The characters are portrayed well especially Kogoro Mouri also Shinichi/Conan and Rans relationship was also done well. Although I did criticized Rans scene in the end of the movie and it was kinda dumb I still think it was a very in character thing to do so props to the people working on this movie for not making the characters do out of character things like in some other conan movies. Music : 7.5/10 The OST is pretty standard Conan stuff but the opening is a banger as always for the DC movies. Animation : 7.5/10 Animation was really good the animation and movement in the final hand to hand fight was animated really well and smooth too my complaint is the cgi ship but I mean animating stuff of that scale is hard so it gets a pass. Overall : 7.5/10 Really good movie to watch if youre a DC fan and a must watch if youre a Kogoro Mouri enjoyer. Overall good watch.
