Mi yu xingzhe otherwise known as uncharted walker in english is a survival genre donghua =chinese anime which is criminally underrated in my opinion. From the tens of thousands users that use anilist only 3000 people have seen uncharted walker. So let me talk about this hidden gem. STORY If you are a fan of survival anime such as btooom you will most likely like this. Some actually call uncharted walker a rival of btooom In my opinion both are quite good but unlike other survival anime which can be described as pvp player vs player uncharted walker is coop cooperative. The story is that a female doctor a gang member an archeologist a policewoman a billionaire a basketball athlete an actor and some more which are just normal people or I would spoil if I told you from all over the world all get stranded on a mysterious island out of nowhere. Theres characters from China Japan Taiwan Australia New Zealand Russia USA UK etc which is surprising that they arent only chinese and I thought it was nice. In the island from the getgo they are faced with life or death situations and threats such as various puzzles giant snakes serious diseases ancient tribes natural terrain such as swamps and much more. The anime is quite realistic for the most part which is always a good thing for me at least. It is not scared to kill off characters so you are always uneasy that your favorite character will die. But thank god they dont get in danger from their stupidity neither someone wants to betray to survive. They know damn well that together is better than alone. For instance 2 episodes are 30 minutes while some others are 2628 so it can finish what it started. Furthermore I appreciate that there is also mystery in this they actually try to find where the island is in the world why they are there who built old ruins in the island and more but there is also mystery around some characters. VOICE ACTING / SOUND Something that puts most people off is the fact that its a chinese anime. You might think that hearing chinese will be weird after watching so many japanese anime. I believe though that the voice acting was pretty good and had no problem at all even if it was my first time ever watching a donghua. Some characters even have different accents depending on their nationality. The sound is alright as well I liked the op and ed too. Animation Animation wise it isnt very strong. Dont worry its not one of these 3d chinese ones but just has an alright animation. The mc is Ning Yuan the guy with the white shirt above. In episode 1 he is really badass but he soon gets amnesia sorry for telling you but its a really light spoiler and doesnt remember anything after 5th grade but he still seems to have a great survival instinct. Nevertheless I still liked him and he slowly regains his badass character. Something that is also surprising is that even with such a large group of characters I dont dislike anyone despite the questionable things some did... The characters dont get much development but just enough for you to like them and since everyone has a different profession they all have something they specialize in. For instance the gang member was bound to make problems for the group but he knows to be cooperative in action the doctor will heal the billionaire will use his money to make the others follow his plan and so on. Also as I said before they are not dumb which is a huge green flag. My favorite of them is Andre the russian dude. THE BIG ISSUE ABOUT IT The problem I had with it was the ending. Its not that story wise its bad. Its that its incomplete. When I say that I mean that the last episode is literally like a normal episode ended and there is a continuation we are in the middle of an arc and shit is going down. I did research about it and found out that it was supposed to have 16 episodes but the studio ran out of money. I then wanted to read the manga but after chapter 180 where the anime ended only like 7 chapters have been translated when there are 900+ in total. So if you want a complete ending you are out of luck you wont get it for quite a while if ever. Conclusion Despite only saying good things Uncharted Walker isnt a masterpiece. I personally give it an 7.5 clinging to an 8 its not amazing but its entertaining enough to be worth a watch especially if you are a survival fan like me.
