Comedy is not funny. Comedy is hard work and timing Larry Hagman Anyone is able to create a joke. Most of the time it follows a set pattern as you lead the audience on a journey where you either confirm or subvert their expectations of what will be the punchline of the joke. This can be seen as quite difficult as comedy is subjective and with the growing of internet culture and memes what is and can be considered funny evolves. For example bass boosted memes are funny simply because humor has evolved to the point where loud = funny. This wasnt the case decades ago but it shows that comedy throughout generations is ever changing and more individuals are creating jokes than ever before. This is both good and bad as we gain more media that is hilarious while also gaining media that is to put it bluntly a complete waste of time. That waste of time today here being Aharensan Is Indecipherable. This series follows our main lead named Raidou a boy that often misinterprets every situation he comes across and wants to make friends with those in his class. He befriends a girl named Aharen who outwardly looks cold and standoffish but is someone who has trouble speaking with others due to her quiet voice and past mistakes. The main duo exist just for the jokes to happen and are given a surfacelevel personality. Every other character is irrelevant. Now what makes this series uninspired garbage exactly? Simply put: the gimmick is unfunny and overused. There are 2 gimmicks that is recycled throughout the entire season: 1. Aharen/Raidou need help They go through many over the top situations that are extreme and wouldnt be practical They find out a simple solution to the problem or its not solved altogether 2. Aharen/Raidou do a random action Aharen/Raidou overexaggerate the action to extremes often followed by overthetop responses/thoughts Turns out they are just stupid and its not a big deal Do you see the issue with this formula? Rinse and repeat that for every episode on end with very little to nothing else happening. As such if your characters are shallow and your comedy is drier than the Sahara Desert your show isnt going to be very good. If you check out a clip and find it funny this show might be for you I on the other hand found this to be extremely tedious and to be the worst part of my entire week for the last season.
