Considerations This is a spoilerfree review. 80+ in my rating means really good. Ive got to read this work on a friends recommendation. I didnt look too much into the synopsis and just started reading. The Story A filmmaker decides to film a documentary at a high school. He selects the topscoring student YeonSu Guk a cold righteous and serious girl and the lowestscoring student Ung Choe a lazy airheaded and careless boy. Now both have to spend a month together to film the documentary and see the daily lives of Korean students living such different lives. The story of Our Beloved Summer is pretty good. Just by the summary you can predict exactly how the story will go but even with that in mind I was able to thoroughly enjoy the story because of the developments that they have made through the series. The pacing is well done and the story is very comforting as you would expect from a romance. I applaud the author for taking an overused set of tropes Click here for meaninghttps://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Tropes and turning it into something unique and worth reading. The Art Style The art style on Our Beloved Summer is pretty good. From the manhwas that Ive read so far this one probably has the most comforting art so far. The color palette is very well picked with a lot of pastel colors the scene composition is good and the backgrounds are really good. 420https://image.kpopmap.com/2021/11/ourbelovedsummerwebtoonintro3.png One aspect that really hit home for me was the character design. I really enjoyed how both main characters look and how their appearance gestures facial expressions and gestures fit with them. 420https://swebtoonphinf.pstatic.net/2021112662/1637890835983t50KxJPEG/8Mdetails+28129.jpg?type=crop540540 The Characters There are a small number of characters in this work: our main characters their family the director and a couple of colleagues. Theyre nicely done. Theres a nice balance between the main characters and the supporting ones. Theres a nice background development for important ones which is difficult to achieve in such a short work. As I always like to talk about the main characters both YeonSu Guk and Ung Choe are great. Theyre really opposites with totally different lives and the interaction between them is pretty well done. Its amazing to watch how one character interacts with the other throughout the series. Conclusion If youre like me you skip everything and read only the conclusion because you dont want to get spoiled with other themes. So I will try to be brief on this point: Read it. It is a short work having only 20 chapters but those chapters pack a nice story a nice drama and a nice story. Everything has a good sense of closure towards the end. Its a good manga to read in the afternoon or to slowly flavor and feel the romance.
