Im going to be honest here Clover isnt the manga for everyone. Ive seen it receive drastically mixed reviews practically everywhere. Just because I loved it doesnt mean that you will. Its confusing as heck and I know most people dont like to be confused. Ill even admit that I didnt know what was going on all the time mostly in the earlier parts. Its also an unfinished work so it doesnt even have an ending. I would like to see more of it. And you know what I think its okay that I was confused. Clover is what made me realize that I didnt have to understand a piece of work in order to think its beautiful. And yes I truly believe that Clover is beautiful. This is probably one of my favorite CLAMP works to date. From what Ive gathered the plot so far is told in three sections. The first part is the story of Kazuhiko as he leads Sue a young girl to a place only she knows. Sue is a clover a being with psychic powers. However shes also the sole four leaf clover the most powerful rank of psychics kept isolated from the world. She grew up only hearing the voices of Kazuhikos dead lover Oruha and the elderly general who she calls grandma. The second part is about Oruha her conversations with Sue and the events before her death. The third and final part is about C one of the the three three leaf clovers his bond with his closest friend as well as the impending fear of A a three leaf clover who has been killing the others. Clover is really defined by its atmosphere. CLAMP really put a lot of effort into the outfits character designs and the world building. I think they really created a unique environment. The world of Clover is a scifi world and yet its clearly not as high tech as one would expect. It has a strong retro feel to it and yet the way things are set up you would have to assume that its in the future. I havent encountered something quite like this before. The character designs were just stunning. Sue C and Oruha were the ones who I was just obsessed with. Theyre so beautifully drawn. I even love the statue of Oruha. The art is just beautiful. It also drew me in with how it reads like poetry. So much of the story is told with Oruhas songs which are thematically relevant. It just was like reading a piece of art rather than a real story. Ill admit that I dont quite know what Clover is trying to say and I might not ever figure that out. However I do feel like I could enjoy it even without a meaning. I dont know if Im making sense here. I just havent read something this unique or stunning. It felt like something that had never been done before. I didnt expect to fall in love with this series in the way I did but I am glad I read it. https://64.media.tumblr.com/b01cf48f5f209787233b9356163cdc1c/tumblrn80xk796k11qd7kpzo11280.jpg
