Kinnikuman: Yomikiri Kassakusen is basically a collection of one shots and 1 two shot short stories giving insight on some events that werent covered in the manga nor anime like how Broken Jr began to respect Ramenman and how the Blood Brigade came into existence. The first story is probably the most generic and revolves about a bad guy being freed from his seal and enslaving a planet. It is up to Kinnikuman Suguru Kinniku to safe them from the enemy once more. The Ramenman and Broken Jr story is interesting as Ramenman took part in a ritual to heal his wounds and pay respect to a fallen opponent. Broken learns the truth about what it means to be a chojin a hint of his true potential. The Blood Brigade chapter is made with the same number 6 focusing mainly on Ashuraman but revolves around all the members who took part in Kinnikuman Soldiers team. How did these characters begin to trust each other and Soldier. What motive is behind Soldier wanting to create the Blood Brigade and some other things. Another story focuses on Benkiman. What he is basically a Toilet Chojin. What he is fighting for. How he got elected to represent his country for the Chojin Olympics. It may be the funniest story in the collection simply because the things surrounding it. The two part story focused on the origin of the Machine Guns. How Kinnikuman managed to get Terrymans respect and managed to sway him back to the ring after his accident in the first Chojin Olympics. During that quest Suguru would learn a lot of things like a good friend of Terryman who stopped trusting human and Chojin alike. The kindness of Terryman and how he values Kinnikuman despite refusing to give in his demand. Sadly one of the best moment couldnt have worked with Meat infodumbing about Texas lore but in this regard it can be excused as not many readers will be familiar with the culture of that state. For the most part they are stories that hit you emotionally and serious instead of focusing on comedy and thoughtout wrestling fights Kinnikuman is known for. So if you read it specifically for the amazing fight scenes you may be left starving or bored. And the comedy for the most part takes a back seat for a more serious portrayal of the characters. But the story about Benkiman may be intended to be comedic as it makes fun by explaining something utterly stupid in such a serious manner like how Benkiman helped a child by letting it shit on him. Something that suppose to come off as caring but actually comes off as hilarious simply because its a living being shaped like an old toilet. If you are a Kinnikuman fan you will certainly enjoy at least some of the stories you read. For guys who arent familiar with Kinnikuman this collection of short stories may not resonate.
