This is my second review request I really enjoy reviewing things that my friends like. It was really interesting for me since this isnt exactly in my comfort zone. I dont normally read or even watch shounen or seinen romance so this was interesting and gave me a breath of fresh air. I will say that I dont love seeing fanservice so there were parts that were a bit awkward for me. There was also a chapter that I skipped most of because it was a bit... much for me contentwise. That sort of dampered my enjoyment a bit and it was ultimately what made me rate the series in the high 7s instead of the low 8s. The story is a simple one. It follows Yusuke Serizawa who gets into an accident. The person who rescues him calls him and she identifies herself as a woman who he wronged in the past. He looks through his memories and reflects on his history of failed romantic relationships to figure out who it was that saved his life. I really like stories like this where someone reflects on their past and their mistakes. Its very interesting and I think thats ultimately the best part of the manga. Yusuke was very interesting. I was relieved that he wasnt super bland. Hes actually a very kind person but he definitely has ulterior motives whether he realizes them or not. Hes very deeply flawed and causes his share of harm to his relationships with his childishness and selfishness. Hes definitely not above using people to make himself look better. There were times when I empathized with him and there were times where he angered me. Hes not a good person but hes definitely very human. He annoyed me but I do feel like he was well written. Hes not always the cause of the failed relationships but he is definitely not blameless I think all the girls were interesting. We mostly see them through Yusukes perspective and hes an unreliable narrator. We have the quiet and shy Nobuta who he viewed as lesser his foreign girlfriend who he felt like made him put in all the effort in the relationship his teacher who rejected him in the most brutal way the girl who he rejected and the girl who left him alone his older girlfriend who made him feel like he needed to compete and the two women who he used. I thought they all served their purpose with good points and flaws. I was grateful that they didnt all forgive him and want to get back with him afterwards. They are capable of seeing who he truly is. I think his endgame was fitting and while it wasnt the healthiest relationship it was definitely one of the healthier ones. As for the art it isnt what I usually go for. They all were designed in a cutesy way with round heads and far apart eyes. It sort of reminded me of March comes in like a lion in a way. I think it does have a lot of appeal I just prefer pretty and elegant designs over super cutesy ones most of the time. I liked it. I think its well written even if I know for sure Im not the intended audience Im not exactly a fan of fanservice. I do feel more motivated to step outside of my comfort zone since I did enjoy this.
