An okay ride but with weak writing. The textbook Isekai: Classroom of students check. Game mechanics in this fictional other world check. Edgy main character with overpowered stats check. Pretty boy hero that isnt the main character check. Convenient plot with loose writing and shallow characters check check. Here we have the main love interest falling head over heels with the main protagonist at the beginning yet she has a very weak plausible motivation for it. The main character has an interesting ability but the author doesnt develop it in any character arc and conveniently makes it stronger. The protagonists powers improve randomly as the story requires it and the author abuses the interesting power as a Deus ex machina. Villains are shallow and with weak logic behind their actions leading many scenarios to feel overly coincidental and convenient. Some villains appear for plot convenience only to be a backdrop for the main character. Other villains that may seem interesting have their stories cut short to force the plot forward and subsequently become a backdrop for the main character. The author changes POV between different characters in an effort to possibly improve the characterization for side characters but lets be real here everyone is a backdrop for the main character. Many times I stopped and thought: Why are these characters doing this? This feels too convenient. I feel that this author should have worked harder in developing the plot and worked in more thorough character arcs. This feels like a nice Isekai fanfic full of tropes and no surprises. With the hoard of available Isekais available these stories need something to stand out from the rest a gimmick per se and this story lacks that. It is my belief that the Isekai premise is abused by authors as a writing crutch. Rather than spend effort introducing a fantasy world Isekai allows for the reader to both experience a relatable protagonist and to enjoy the story in media reis. The crutch here is that authors follow up with improper exposition dumps and tend to cut corners by using blatant game mechanics to help quantify a world that hasnt been fully developed. This is not to say that I dont like Isekais on the contrary I enjoy them very much. What a good Isekai has is a star something it does different or novel enough that it stands out against the backdrop of cookie cutter blandness this story lacks that star. On a more personal note I feel that there are a few times the author uses what I feel is immature language and it just feels cringy and out of place. Other times I feel the author lost patience with developing a scene and speeds through sections of content rather than fleshing out the story. What could have been a fascinating character arc devolves into a rushed story job. I wouldnt recommend this story except to kill time. Shallow plot weak writing and non memorable characters.
