The art of Zhang Bin better known as Benjamin born in Heilongjiang is independent. The artist was a fashion design student and still an enthusiast who lives a very simple life away from the spotlight. As in the ending notes in every chapter of this delightful and engaging One Day we readers immediately understand the need for its creator of an inflicted voluntary poverty. 220https://www.actuabd.com/local/cachevignettes/L400xH448/oneday0101f6d.jpg?1580096458 Conceived over several years 19962000 and published by the French Xiao Pan One Day contains two stories inspired by the youthful ferocity of the artist who lives with hardship in a sick polluted overpopulated but also deeply human city. And the protagonist himself describes China as a thirdworld country where life expectancy is few and low compared to others. So a sick and deaf father then abandons the world and women become objects of unbridled lust for a character with a dishevelled hairstyle who wanders around simply wasting a life monitored by the city clock. The aesthetic beauty of the main actors of this urban architecture are all elegant in their tragedy and would fit into Ai Yazawas Ikebukuros electric bloodletting with high heels and scourers flashy hats and love tattoos. The other three stories present are a display of colour a theoretical exposition of the power of the brush everything is saturated with eroticism and lust. 220https://www.bdgest.com//critiques/images/planches/61215.jpg At the end of the reading you feel a sense of strong erotic desire but not vulgar. The impulse to return home and make love convulsively with ones partner to sweat in a bed while outside the rain tries to wash a city full of dirt and ideals that are failing. In Zhang Bin there are no hypocrisies that mask cultures and there are no high schools full of dreams but ants channelled into a large anthill where the escape route is only the choice of a personal decadence and a hermitage made of solitude. One Day definitely falls into the independent release industry its not one of those mustsee graphic novels for pop comics literature enthusiasts and even the most navigated may find it raw it was indeed its debut. The stories are sometimes without a real tail but they live in a grounded urban world. Available on Amazon Shop in French or German I sincerely invite you to buy given the independent nature of the author who deserves support even though I am aware this is not for everyone. I will pick up all his catalogues and put them on my shelf as it is totally worth it.
