IkenaiKyo is a fantasy romcom following the efforts of misanthropic wizard Allen Crawford in teaching Charlotte Evans a girl falsely accused of committing evil deeds lots of naughty things. Those naughty things are actually lots of different ways to have fun and enjoy life. Though this series may come off as your typical slowlife fantasy with romance rather than focusing on constant butterflies theres still plenty of that it focuses on what it actually means to love. The typical anime/manga/LN flirting and blushing is certainly cute but this series displays what it means to care for someone beyond how they make an individual feel. The feelings of wanting to protect make happy understand and help grow are all central to the relationship between the two characters of this series. Through silly situations we get to watch the pair grow closer as well as see Charlotte gain some muchneeded confidence her own opinions and overcome her fears. This is a romance but its also a story of found family where a girl finds a place she can be happy and people who truly care for her. Though full of many cute and extremely sweet moments the series is very much a comedy. Much of the comedy in this series relies on Allen and his silly antics and phrasing. After all naughty certainly paints a different image than simply doing fun activities. He is also sort of similar to a tsundere with him often presenting his actions in a negative light despite doing it out of kindness deep down which is something Charlotte notices as they get closer. Allen most likely believes his actions are out of bad intent as he seems to get quite confused with his own feelings. However this confusion doesnt stop Allen from making sure Charlotte knows that she is special to him. On the other hand Charlotte is an innocent and sweet character. She lacks confidence and seems to be under the impression that she shouldnt enjoy anything thanks to her previous home life. Largely the series is about Allen trying to change this and as the title states make her the happiest woman in the world. The story slowly shows Allens efforts paying off as she starts to express her own desires. The changes are gradual and pulled off well. Despite Charlottes darker history this is an extremely lighthearted story full of funny and cute moments between Allen and Charlotte. Id say what makes this series stand out is just how genuine the twos relationship feels in contrast to the way many more recent romance series solely focus on flirting rather than why one would love another or how exactly that love is displayed. This series may not have a revolutionary or incredibly unique plot but the relationship shown through it is truly special.
