Warning: Review contains spoilers so do not continue reading if you dont want to be spoiled Alright so Ill start off right away with the positives on what I liked about the story. Yona. Thats it. She carries the story. I like that the story delves into and breaks down the standard male lead archetypes that are shown in plently of other romance series The idea of the original female lead having to repeat the same life over and over again when someone reads the story is an interesting concept Another aspect to the male lead breakdowns is that they begin to develope as characters after everything specifally talking about the crown prince Time to get onto the main thing that I didnt like. Also this is my personal opinion if you disagree then thats fine. Melissa. The female lead and protaginist of the story. Oh god do I not like her. She is basically a prime example of a mary sue. She somehow becomes a borderline sword master in a month? Nani? Unlike other stories similar to this one like Why She Lives as a Villainess Melissia has zero prior knowledge in swordsmanship like Kendo but somehow she is able to go toe to toe with the 2nd strongest werewolf with only a month of training? Thats absolutely bollocks. Another completely BS thing is her stupidly op magic sword. We arent shown it in the story how she got it and it just kinda pops into the story out of nowhere right before the author drops an exposition dump on us about how she got it but thats just extremely weak writing right there. If youre gonna give the main character a really powerful weapon that basically makes every fight a cakewalk then you should have the character earn it. But she doesnt do anything of the sort and gets it automatically. Now lets talk about the big reason the reason why I dropped the story in the first place. Chapter 63 oh god chapter 63. There is a scene is which the male lead Nine confronts Melissa about her plan on purposefully drinking poison in order to expose an antagonist. She has this whole plan on how shed heal herself using Yuristhe original female lead of the novel magic in order to get rid of the poison. Obviously since Nine likes Melissa hes worried and doesnt like the plan. But instead of attempting to reassure him that shell be fine you know something a normal person wouldve done she basically gets all pissy and tells him that she will do whatever she wants and that she should be the one worrying about him because she thinks hes looking down on her due to him being a werewolf while shes a human. Even though Nines worries are perfectly valid as A. She drinking extremely deadly poison and B. Melissa doesnt even know how Yuris magic antidote is gonna react with the super deadly poison. It might not even do anything at all. This scene left an extremely bitter taste in my mouth only adding onto the previous dislike I had for her. I only made it past 2 more chapters before I just got fed up and dropped it. Espeically since Melissa had the audacity to go and be like I dont know why hes mad and I didnt do anything wrong. Anyways what Im trying to say is that everything else in the manhwa was fine and honestly very enjoyable. The only thing I admantly disliked was the protagonist herself. And obviously as the protagonist shell be the character with the most screen time.
