I adored this season but for reasons completely different from season 1. While I feel season 1 is more of an adventure story that presented us with a few adorable characters and a unique magical world full of mysteries season 2 is closer to a drama spending a lot more time on characters and their complex relationships. I still think Chise is a great protagonist. Shes cute and lovely adorable and deserves happiness :3 but more seriously more than just being really cozy protagonist that I adore I think shes a great character who is able to advance the story in a way that feels natural thanks to her characterization as shy and oblivious to the realities of a normal life for sorcerers while still being extremely caring and curious about the world and her being a being a sleigh beggy. So yeah shes cute and lovely and caring and does a great job at moving the story forward in a way that feels logical considering who she is and how shes acted in the past while still developing as a character which grounds the story and allows for greater immersion and thus engagement and enjoyment of the story. This season as a whole just feels very fluid I think it finds a great balance for a slow pace especially for this series as season 2 part 2 is noticeably faster than the rest of the series staying slow and cozy but very rarely falling into the trap of becoming sluggish and also doing faster moments that come towards the end of the season exceptionally well. It also looks really great so much so that I am going to do the unthinkable... praise use of 3D... Yeah I think the use of 3D here is actually pretty good I feel it was implemented in a way that really doesnt feel intrusive or out of place while also allowing the artists to do some things they wouldnt have been able to do otherwise like the old god we see at the end of the season which honestly doesnt feel out of place at all. Like season 1 the music is still ridiculously good I seriously loved the whole soundtrack and it felt a lot less repetitive than in season 1. I also still love the series magic system cause unlike most magic systems in media this one does actually feel magical unnatural it feels like something that goes against the laws of nature it isnt explained it just is. The magical aspect of this world creatures magic locations is able to form a coherent whole where every part makes sense in context of that whole while still feeling individually otherworldly odd it also has strong mythology vibes while still being original which I really like its a really unique feel and part of the world which I just love seeing. We learn a lot more about the characters we were introduced to in part 1 and I think its done really well nothing feels like an exposition dump and we learn more about each of the characters past and relationships in a way that feels natural I really liked it. The characters also dont act in ways that feel illogical or perfectly calculated they all feel very humane and flawed and conflicted its just great. We also get more Silver during the last episode which is always a plus for me. This show is basically just a jack of all trades master of none. I can name shows that do everything this one does but better however you will be hard pressed for find something else that is able to juggle so many different things without failing at any single one of them I truly think this series deserves so much more praise and attention than it currently does. Low 8. The ending is beyond cute.
