Not bad but not a top anime either. I enjoyed the comic as it had a good amount of plot development whereas the anime feels rushed. The presentation in this adaptation is passable but I still question some of the directors decisions with the scene setup. Overall a decent thing to watch in the background but if you want to pay attention I would recommend something else. The story begins in media reis with a decent action scene. The animations are sufficient and it sets up the plot in the first episode in a decent way. The whole regression premise has been done a million times over but I do like the fact that they gave the MC some human emotions with how he reacts to going back in time. Scene setup doesnt feel as empty as many other animes but you can tell where they simply use backdrops but filled backdrops are still better than empty backdrops 100 I do have some scruples with the flow of the story where I feel some inconsequential scenes are given way too much screen time and certain plot developments are skimmed over or even ignored compared to the source material. Trying not to get into spoilers but the source material goes more in depth into the preparations for the MCs party progression into the next class but it feels like it was left as a footnote here. One of the supporting characters qualities are emphasized in passing conversation but whereas in the source material the MC helps them build this skill up as a keystone ability for the group here it isnt even mentioned. I feel like better organization of the events would have greatly benefitted the show. The show doesnt suffer excessively from it but what could have been a solid 8/10 becomes a 6/10 here as it feels like the adaptation just doesnt care about whats important. For example in episode 6 it takes the MC party 3.5 minutes to go through a gate thats about 16 of the episode to go through a door 3 minutes that could have instead been used to emphasize a climactic action scene or further develop the cast of characters. Now not everything is doom and gloom. The cast of characters does feel varied and villains are given a bit of backstory to keep them from completely feeling like folding screens in the background meant to push up the MC. Additionally the animation quality of the show is pretty decent. You can tell where they used CGI in the action scenes but it blends in pretty well creating a decently entertaining experience. Unfortunately I feel like what could have been a great or even just a solid anime simply became: meh. Its not bad but not great. I dont feel like I wasted my time but I dont feel like I got my times worth either.
