This review will contain spoilers for the series You can scroll down if you are interested in the score I gave to this show. I went into this anime with different expectations. I dont know why but I just did. But I found something very different and I am glad that it was different. It gives us an important message about life while keeping the story lighthearted. The problem this anime sheds light on is MISCOMMUNICATION. This is my 2nd anime review ever so please keep that in mind. With that lets begin... https://files.catbox.moe/e0tmly.png This story introduces us to our main character Wataru Sajou who has been deeply in love with the main heroine Aika Natsukawa since Middle school. Even after getting rejected by her many times Wataru still keeps on suggesting she be in a relationship with him. This keeps on going until they become firstyear high schoolers. Wataru realises that his way of confession is wrong and he cant just force his feelings on others. Hence he concludes and stops acquainting with Aika. I liked the route which this story took here. Usually in anime especially high school romance an annoying character remains an annoying character till the end of the story but Wataru realising that he is causing trouble to the girl he loves because of his actions and stopping immediacy adds a layer to his character which makes this anime interesting for me. https://files.catbox.moe/bqknr3.png After completing the First episode of the show I was thinking How will they make this show more interesting? In my mind Sajou was only a lover boy Perception of the main character based on the First Episode But the author surprised me once again. According to me 70 duration of this anime focuses on the Sajou as a character. the story puts Sajou in different situations and shows us how he would react the these situations. Whether this situation be with the Morals and Discipline Committee or Student Council or Part time job or Senpai Kohai relationship. Most of the time anime shows us what kind of person our main character is. Or what effect is he having on other peoples lives? This anime also shows the reaction of Aika who is no longer bothered by Sajou to each situation Sajou is involved. I was not expecting it to be this unique in approach. But this is what acts like a doubleedged sword for me. It sells itself as a romance anime but 70 is a character study of Wataru. And the writing isnt that complex like Oregairu or Bakemongatari. Its not bad but its not good either. It is mediocre. It almost seems like these situations were supposed to build up a harem for Sajou but the situations were too mature or serious for that to happen. The romance story only starts in the last quarter of the anime. Which made me wonder why did they sell it as a romance anime in the first place? https://files.catbox.moe/gbuj6w.png I am the type of guy who liked tsundere at first but as time went on ahead I started finding these types of characters very annoying. Unfortunately our main heroine Aika is also a tsundere. As most of you must have guessed Aika is the root cause of the problem in this anime. The Miscommunication happens because Aika cant express her feelings properly towards Sajou which causes him to maintain distance from Aika. Which also forms the basic premise of this anime. I am not saying that Aika is a BAD Character. By the end of the anime she redeems herself. She is quite likeable once you get to know her as a person. But thats the problem. We get to know her character very late in the anime. I did start to like her but at the very end of the anime. Her lack of screen time also doesnt help. It makes me very sad because I liked her character but I spent most of the time in the anime getting annoyed with her. But she isnt a BAD character. Its just a weird structure of the story which chose to show her backstory very late in the anime. https://files.catbox.moe/3z1vyf.png One thing I like about this anime is the relationship shared by the siblings. especially the relationship shared by Wataru and Kaede. In Episode one Kaede gets to know that her younger brother has given up on the girl he loves the most which was very surprising for her. Most of the situation that Wataru takes part in happens because of her elder sister Kaede. Since Kaede is in the Student Council she started giving work related to the student council to Wataru to keep him occupied. She was very concerned about her brother. This anime showed a realistic bond with siblings without making it weird. I respect it for that. I also liked the Situation with Mina Ichinose which also focuses on the bond of siblings. The Issue that Mina was facing is very realistic and I am glad this anime addresses it. https://files.catbox.moe/ygbkv6.png Lets talk about the romance aspect of this anime. As I said the romance story only starts in the last quarter of the anime. The question is How was it? To be honest its pretty good. To think it made me look at Aika in a different light shows that its a good love story. We are told that during middle school Aikas family wasnt doing well which is why she rejects Wataru when he asks her out for the first time in the middle school. Watsu without being affected by Aikas rejection starts spending time with her. Aika also likes being with Wataru but doesnt know it yet. But when Wataru maintain the distance between them It is then she realises the importance of Wataru and starts being true to her feelings. She also Low key confesses to Wataru. Which made me like her. I really did like Aika by the end of the anime but I still have the same questions. Why was there a lack of screen time for the Main Heroine of the anime? Why did they make her so annoying at the start of the anime? https://files.catbox.moe/a7ay0u.png In the end I would like to say even though I have some problems with the structure of this anime and I know that the animation quality was weird at some times but overall I did enjoy watching it. I did like Wataru and Aika by the end of the anime and I was satisfied with the conclusion of the love story. Its not the best romance Its not the best character drama but think you will find something to enjoy here. Just as I did. If there will be a 2nd Season for this anime then I wont be watching it.
