Originally Reviewed on Serializd Naturally like with any of these random Netflix anime that I just decide to bingewatch for no particular reason I didnt really know anything about Eden before jumping into it. I just figured hey you know what I have an hour or two to kill so may as well go and see if I can binge something real quick and then I ended up finding this which not only looked very pleasant from the poster but it also had a basic premise outline that I could get right behind. It seemed like the kind of small little show that was made for me so naturally when I did watch through the entire thing I really ended up loving it. It is by no means a perfect show and for those wanting a little more out of something like this would best look somewhere else for any other similar movies or shows to check out but for what we got here I was both pleasantly surprised and thoroughly entertained throughout the entire thing and I am glad I decided to check it out after wondering about it for a while. The story is one we have all heard a million times before in some variation or another and not too much is done here to make it stand out from other similar stories but the execution of said story is where all of my love and praise can be found as it is very enjoyable to watch it all play out the characters are all extremely likable from Sarah and all the other human characters to all of the different robots that they interact with throughout the series each of them fun and lovable enough to where I never got tired of anyone throughout the whole thing the voice acting is fantastic with everyone doing a pretty great job in each of their roles even if some of the performances can be a little sloppy at times and sound way too animeesque for this kind of show the animation is beautiful having a wonderful art style and fantastic movement that can be seen through most of the episodes even though sometimes it can look like it has the same budget as that of a VTuber model and the emotional moments whenever they do come by hit pretty hard and you do feel genuinely sorry for whatever any of these characters are going through while understanding why they make the decisions they do make... to a degree. Like I mentioned earlier this show is far from perfect and one of the reasons that it isnt perfect is because of you guessed it how short it was. The series is only 4 episodes long each being around 25 minutes in length and while it is enough to where all of the plot points and revelations are covered before the end of the series it does feel pretty rushed and sloppy in some segments. This definitely couldve just been a movie that was put up on Netflix rather then a show but I guess they decided they NEEDED to make a show out of it even though it wouldve done just as good of a job as a film instead. Secondly due to how little time this show is given there are several plot points throughout that are brought up and mentioned with not so much explanation and it is usually never brought up again afterwards which can get pretty annoying especially for someone like me who focuses on those stupid details. This coupled with some scenes that do feel like they are wasting time in some circumstances couldve been trimmed out to make for a more engaging story but its fine because what we did end up with was still great regardless. Overall despite how short it was and how the story can be a bit sloppy at points Eden was a wonderful surprise that I am glad that I decided to check out after wondering about it for so long with great characters wonderful animation superb voice work and a sense of heart that I have been looking for in a show like this for a very long time. I would definitely recommend it for those looking for something short but sweet to binge on their free time as well as those who are into these kinds of stories and animation because if you can just ignore some small plot details here or there then you are going to have a great time with it for sure. Hell after all of this it just makes me wish that I had my own robot parents that loved me no matter what. Humans are great and all but can they spin their entire top half around like a top? I dont think so
