I have been wanting to write a review on this film for a long time probably the best Chinese animated film finally the day has arrived. I want to start with the criticisms that were leveled after the release of this film: Although the film was liked in China the Chinese criticized the physical representations of the characters faces because they did not have the typical large eyes that are used for Western animation but the eyes are small and distant this according to the Chinese was offensive because it reflected the typical racism that Westerners have towards them. The director replied that that type of racism has almost been eradicated beauty now has no borders everyone has their own type of beauty closing off the criticism. Im What I Am is a Chinese animation film that captures the essence of growth through the harsh challenges of life. In fact the protagonist will be forced to overcome both physical and emotional obstacles that will constantly put him to the test. The story follows the journey of a young boy Ah Juan who lives only with his grandfather in a small South village because his parents both work away from home. Ah Juans life is difficult in addition to suffering from the lack of his parents who have practically abandoned him as a child by his grandfather to go to work far to be able to maintain him he is often a victim of bullying because he is in economic difficulty everything will begin To change when he meets a girl with a somewhat revolutionary character who will ask him to participate in the Lion Games. The film is set in a current China but with a context rich in Chinese culture and tradition. The characters are all well developed adding depth and realism to history. There are comic moments in Shaolin Soccer style and Kung Fu Hustle therefore very funny. The film is completely made of CGI in my opinion of high quality where sometimes it improves even more in the moments when the lions are shown with a use of bright and detailed colors has nothing to envy to Disney films and has A fluid and engaging narrative. Many of the landscapes in this donghua have been recreated by real cities and villages this by more authenticity. Each soundtrack inserted in the various scenes perfectly accompanies the action emphasizing the key moments and intensifying the emotional experience. As in Disney films there will be many songs but they will not be sung in musical style but they will be present as a background enriching the atmosphere. Each song inserted is incredible a fusion of traditional Chinese music with modern rhythms and texts contextualized at the moment. In conclusion Im What I Am is a work concentrated to send a precise message what despite adversity there will always be space for inner growth and hope. Film recommended for anyone looking for a more mature story close to reality and suitable for every type of audience. Voglio iniziare con le critiche che sono state scagliate dopo luscita di questo film: Nonostante il film sia piaciuto in Cina i cinesi hanno criticato le rappresentazioni fisiche del viso dei personaggi perch non avevano i tipici occhi grandi che vengono utilizzati per lanimazione occidentale ma gli occhi sono piccoli e distanti questo secondo i cinesi era offensivo perch rispecchiava il tipico razzismo che hanno gli occidentali nei loro confronti. Il regista gli ha risposto che quel tipo di razzismo quasi debellato la bellezza ormai non ha confini ognuno ha il suo tipo di bellezza chiudendo le critiche. Im what I am un film di animazione cinese che cattura lessenza della crescita attraverso le dure sfide della vita. Di fatto il protagonista sar costretto a superare ostacoli sia fisici che emotivi che lo metteranno costantemente a dura prova. La storia segue il viaggio di un giovane ragazzo Ah Juan che vive solo con suo nonno in un piccolo villaggio del sud perch i suoi genitori lavorano entrambi lontano da casa. La vita di Ah Juan difficile oltre a soffrire per la mancanza dei suoi genitori che lo hanno praticamente abbandonato da piccolo da suo nonno per andare a lavorare lontano per poterlo mantenere spesso vittima di bullismo perch in difficolt economiche tutto inizier a cambiare quando incontrer una ragazza dal carattere un p rivoluzionario che gli chieder di partecipare ai Giochi del leone. Il film ambientato in una Cina attuale ma dal contesto ricco di cultura e tradizione cinese. I personaggi sono tutti ben sviluppati aggiungendo profondit e realismo alla storia. Sono presenti momenti comici in stile Shaolin Soccer e Kung Fu Hustle quindi molto divertenti. Il film completamente realizzato in CGI secondo me di alta qualit dove a volte migliora ancor di pi nei momenti in cui vengono mostrati i Leoni con un uso di colori vivaci e dettagliati non ha nulla da invidiare ai film Disney ed ha una narrazione fluida e coinvolgente. Molti dei paesaggi in questo donghua sono stati ricreati da vere citt e villaggi ci da pi autenticit. Ogni colonna sonora inserita nelle varie scene accompagna perfettamente lazione enfatizzando i momenti chiave e intensificando lesperienza emotiva. Come nei film Disney ci saranno molte canzoni ma non saranno cantate in stile musical ma saranno presenti come sottofondo arricchendo latmosfera. Ogni canzone inserita incredibile una fusione di musica tradizionale cinese con ritmi moderni e testi contestualizzati al momento. In conclusione Im what I am unopera concentrata a lanciare un messaggio preciso quello che nonostante le avversit ci sar sempre spazio per la crescita interiore e la speranza. Film consigliato a chiunque cerchi una storia pi matura vicina alla realt e adatta ad ogni tipo di pubblico. Avrei potuto raccontare di pi anche sui personaggi ma questa una recensione senza spoiler vi lascio a voi questa meravigliosa scoperta.
