Yagate Kimi ni Naru Warning: review contains spoilers Series experience: the absolute best the genre can offer but praying for a second season... Ill be explaining this further in the review Short review: Bloom Into You is a Japanese yuri manga series written and illustrated by Nio Nakatani. An anime television series adaptation by TROYCA premiered on Oct 5 2018. The final episode aired on Dec 28 2018. The story follows two female high school students Yuu Koito and Touko Nanami and the relationship that develops between them as they learn more about themselves through their experiences together. Review: Bloom Into You is one of the absolute best the genre has to offer thus far. But this show shines like a beacon amongst all of the others. This is due to a couple of factors which a lot of stories in the shoujoai and yuri genre get wrong. This show was different then other once. It focused on the characters insecurities and mindset which made for a far more interesting story. Touko and Yuus conflict with their identity made the relationship more complex and intriguing. this show understands the different struggles of growing up gay and how all of its characters represent a different facet of that. Yuu starts out disenchanted with the concept of love because despite the urging from her friends and even having romantic prospects dropped in her lap just doesnt have those feelings of heterosexual love that are expected of her and as a result becomes jaded and as a gay guy who went to a conservative Christian high school in Alabama that is a feeling that is all too familiar and not explored by media enough. Nanamis more aware of these feelings but had yet to find a way to act on them until she meets Yuu and when she discovers someone who totally gets that part of her and accepts it she is immediately and easily attached which is again a very familiar feeling. Even Saeki who I expected to do nothing but introduce unnecessary genre is a wellfleshed out gay character who learns the about the spectrum of sexuality and how it affects her personally. To be honest I really think it has a poor ending there is missing a lot to truelly finish this and I really am praying for a season 2. The ending is really open it can still go lots of ways and btw I really was looking forward to the student council stage show and we never got to see that. before this I had my ratings on 87 but after the bad ending I had to lower it a bit /3 Characters: Talking about characters all the side characters are fantastic too. As a romantic rival Sayaka is a pretty swell girl who gets quite a bit of development herself. The contrast between Yuu and Sayakas relationship with Touko and how differently they try to help her further strengthened the intrigue of the story and Toukos character arc. Characters like Maki and Koyomi arent a focus but they all play a role in the story and are great characters in their own right. The relationship with Riko and Miyako is also a very fun side addition. Visuals music: Finally lets talk visuals and music cause they really do go hand in hand with one another and the best way I can describe this is that the whenever the visuals pop on screen the music and soundtrack is perfectly timed to capture a moment in time almost like it was taking a visually spectacular picture a method to which I can do nothing but praise Sentai Filmworks and Troyca for capturing that feel in fact my two favourite moments like this are the scene of Yuu looking up at her ceiling decorated with stars from the planetarium nightlight given to her by Nanami.
