Look as much as I love rifle shooting I did long distance during high school This anime is kinda meh story wise. Accurate though when it comes to posture zone jackets pants and how monotonous the sport seems. Its actually super exciting but we learn to keep it in because itd affect our heart rate when we shoot. Competitive shooting is a hell of a thing and I think that it shouldve displayed the teamwork aspect of it more. We got a glimpse of how shooting orders are made etc. But nothing too much in terms of team feel. And thats why I feel like the characters are 1 dimensional. They had shallow interactions and existed for a certain purpose. A stern seemingly robotic and perfect shooter a tsundere shooter who spikes in scores competitively a hyper shooter who only comes online during competition and a purely consistent shooter that does the same thing over and over again. To be fair I would say the consistent shooter is the best out of the the 4 but that was the point of the anime. The anime was all about the cute girls. And they were really shallow. I really like shooting thats really all our main character comes to. That and Secret Boobage. The others are just as described above. I think they couldve added more character by adding the importance of teamwork and trust in. Rather than just making all the shooters super good there was a little struggle shown by hikari shooting bad on individuals and tsundere girl doing bad during the team stage. But I mean that really isnt much at all. It focused too much on the cute girls doing cool things aspect and it missed the part where you had to write characters that were interesting and the teamwork troubles that would come up during competitions even practice competitions. When theyre all infinitely positive there is no interesting thing about rifle. When everyone shoots basically a 600+ why would anyone ever want to try rifle shooting. I understand these people are someone peak? Ive seen year 7s shoot very close and above that limit as they get experience. Ok this is kinda long winded but you understand that when someone hits the ceiling there is literally nowhere else to go right? When people get insane scores all the time the art of getting an insane score is taken away. Add better characters and flesh them out. Then we can talk. We need more people to be interested in this really fun sport
