Whisper is an anthology of 17 short stories making up 24 chapters total. None of the stories correlate with one another there are no returning characters or places but there are a lot of recurring themes. Every story arguably except for one has a supernatural element to it whether this be hallucinations spirits or possession. Some of the short stories would likely be given the horror tag though none of them are particularly scary. If anything Id say the stories that end badly and try to be horror arent very good or memorable. The best stories are the ones that start with some conflict mental health ghosts abusive family but are wholesomely resolved at the end. These are the ones that have stuck with me and still come to mind sometimes. The art is very fitting and simple and although Id struggle to call any of the panels a masterpiece but I must admit that the art is beautiful to look at. The style remains the same throughout but the tone of it changes to fit each story. Generally the colours are faded and uninteresting until the supernatural elements come into play with bold colours emphasising either their fear or importance. My personal favourite story is Gourmet. Its two chapters long and the only one without an obviously supernatural element and the reason I love it is a very personal one that I doubt many people will be able to relate to. I have a little known eating disorder called ARFID Avoidant/Restrictive Eating Disorder which means that Im only able to enjoy eating very specific types/brands of food incredibly limiting my diet. Similar to me the protagonist of Gourmet is only able to enjoy food from a certain restaurant made by a certain person. I admit I cried a little when reaching the happy ending of this short story as this was the first time Id ever read/seen anything with the same condition as me. Obviously I have to assume that given this is a supernatural anthology unlike me the protagonists condition must have been caused by something otherworldly but I digress. I wouldnt say this anthology is absolutely incredible or a mustread for anyone but given how fast it is to read with its enjoyable stories Id definitely suggest more people read this. As a whole its not one of my favourite manhwa but if I were to only choose the stories I thought were great and make a new anthology it would likely be in my top 3. As of now only 12 others have completed it something which is a huge shame. If youre looking for something new to read and have a little spare time on your hands then I definitely recommend it.
