Youre in your earlymid 20s working a shit job with a shit boss living alone asocial and your life is in a constant downward spiral. What do you do? Well none other than get healed by a succubus. 220https://externalpreview.redd.it/Yaf4db5rkvlJPWJ9xwt2kh4btXc74arSh277CBQTvY.jpg?auto=webps=6899a0ca2a310ebbcf3abe933bc1059980b6cb6b Story A unnamed young man suffers from severe depression as a result of overworking himself. An unnamed succubus comes to sap his sexual essence but no avail due to our depressed heros exhausted state. Determined to retrieve his energy the succubus takes it upon herself to heal him. The premise is pretty normal if youre aware of the massive influx of overworked office worker healed by deus ex machina qt3.14 grill series. It has a 4komaesque and episodic format. The pages are generally more than 4 panels but they have individual titles and subplots akin to a traditional 4koma series. The goofy artstyle may throw you off but the story can get quite dark and resonate a lot. In the midst of the general lighthearted atmosphere youll remember this is about a depressed individual and someone trying to heal him. Our MC struggles with daily rituals like going outside and sleeping. His depression isnt subject to merely dark humor but is shown in a serious light. Our heroines attempt to heal him is much more subject to humor such as her failed sexual advances but its obvious how much she grows to care for him as she works feeds and provides mental support for him. She understands the trials and tribulations of her position but still works hard to heal him. TLDR: I think this is one of the more grounded healing series out there This is generally SOL/Comedy. Romance is implied and subtle but not explicit. Has a ton of Japanese cultural references tying with the jokes that you likely wont understand without the scanlators explanations. Characters All the characters are unnamed merely referred to as their pronouns or their species ie: human succubus etc. In lieu of the title lets call our male MC Yuuuutsukun and our succubus MC Succubussan. Their characters and development have much more effort put into them. On the surface level they all may seem like stereotypical caricatures. Yuuuutsukun has dark eye bags unkept hair a stoic face among other traits that one would think of a depressed individual. Succubussan is a horny machine flirtatious and a chatterbox. However they all have little quirks that give them distinct personalities that you find by their constant interactions. And they even develop throughout the story according to their character. Yuuuusukuns fears dissipate little by little with Succubussans love but is a long way from recovery. Succubussans desire for sexual energy slowly changes to love but is embarrassed by the fact that a succubus wants love instead of libido. Of course there isnt any amazing going on here. But I like the subtlety of it. There are some sidecharacters as well. Mostly providing more comedic relief. Art Its pretty rough/sketchy. I think it fits the general comedic lighthearted atmosphere well. Considering the story where it heavily relies on interactions between the same few characters in generally the same setting I dont think it needed anything amazing. Enjoyment The constant cultural references throw me off from enjoying the comedy to its fullest and the art isnt the most aestheticallypleasing. However I love the dialogue and character interactions. I reread this series at least once a month and I love it. Final Words This is a rather unique series in terms of execution from other SOL Ive read. Its not the most interesting funniest or deep but it often pops in my head that it exists. At the time of the review the author has just returned from a yearlong hiatus and is currently just over 20 chapters.
