The choreography is damn well executed. The focal point of how swords ruled Japan and martial arts were the epitome of warfare was definitely fleshed out plenty through various characters and motives. It nice to see the description of how each martial technique works with some realistic logic and some not so realistic obviously is still intriguing and shows the authors passion for the weapons and martial arts of Japans past. 7/10 VISUALS: I would say the drawing aspect has various moments of being well illustrated. The art stylization isnt spectacular but its definitely consistently good. 8/10 DIALOGUE: Its pretty standard definitely moments where it feels a bit loose and unpolished but it fits characters like Kashitorou Gama Iori with comedy and demeanor so well that it goes unnoticed for the most part except regarding the antagonists. 7/10 STRUCTURE: I would that the author has a pretty firm understanding of his core audience a highlight being Quick and decisive fights. However pacing both excels and suffers. From an entertainment aspect its great for a binge. Definitely see why someone would recommend it. What suffers though because things are being developed so fast is storylines connected to the antagonists. The motivations of both the shogunate and Jinsuke Kurogane are clear. But arent all that interesting as they could have been especially the advisors personal core. Example Shimon Ranmaru. Also quite a few late and underdeveloped introductions of characters. 6/10 RESOLUTION: I could see why people would have a problem with the ending more so the events leading up to it. My best boys made it out Kashitorou Gama Iori so Im content. The shogunate storyline the fight between Iori Jinsuke. The continuation of Jinsuke kuroganes will through Tsuchiryuu Jinguu and shimon are kinda MID NGL. Also not even one panel for Yumeji Gama? Come on dawg you know we need to eat. 6/10 OVERALL: Pretty good for an action and fighting genre. The first 60 chapters were pretty exceptional quite the buildup The Unabara tournament and the contestants fighting on behalf of the 31 Daimyos sons was a definite hook. The rest struggles to live up to that but there were a lot of clean moments. The ending is pretty anticlimatic in regards to the last fights. The Ogame gang pretty much carried the whole story on their backs. Shinnojou had a weak backstory but he still hit plenty. Gamaran isnt a great story but it does a very good job of keeping you entertained. Like I said it has more than quite a few characters that keep you hooked. The fights are well constructed. The Storyline is lacking the Antagonist are mediocre. Quite underdeveloped and lacks substance in some areas. But I would be lying if I said I didnt enjoy it. That being said GAMARAN is a solid SCORE 7
