Mi-Na Hwang

Hwang MiNa is a female Korean comic artist who started her career in 1980 with The Blue Star of Ionie published in Sonyeo Sidae. She contributed to the expansion of female comics in Korea with several comics about romances. She founded Nine magazine in 1985 a literary comics magazine. Unlike other female artists Hwang Mina used Korea itself as the setting of her stories. She is also referred to as which vaguely translates to the Godmother of Romance Manhwa shoujo manga. In 1981 she received a letter from a fan that said I want to draw manhwa but I dont know how. The two exchanged letters several times and one day the fan sent a manuscript which Hwang MiNa immediately showed to her publisher.
